Obama wants to expand faith-based programs

www.msnbc.msn.com

CHICAGO - Reaching out to religious voters, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama called for expanding President Bush's program steering federal social service dollars to religious groups and — in a move sure to cause controversy — supported some ability to hire and fire based on faith.

Please leave comments, I want to know everyone's opinion on this.

Isn't the tax-free church rich enough as it is?

Don't applaud Obama too fast...give him a few days...he might change his mind. That is what happens when you try to be all things to all people.

If your family was in need who would you rather meet at the door trying to help. The government, or your local church? Those of you looking for the government, there is no such thing as charity from the government, it costs us all big bucks.

Obama is just trying to win over Evangelicals after he got called on his "fruitcake interpretation" of the Constitution etc. by an Evangalical Pastor. The Pastor states Obama doesn't know the Bible very well and only pretends to.

Obama said "Not enough folks are reading their Bibles" in yet another arrogant 'Obama knows best' statement.

That statement and the criticism from the Evangelical Pastor has Obama wanting to not lose those voters or get as many as possible by this pandaring BS.

that's not the point

the point is that churches already have enough tax-free money, remember that scandal where they paid like 600million or something to avoid being sued for molestation, a church with 600million bucks as pocket change?

plus this is just being pro-big government, there is no change here whatsoever, he is just pandering to conservatives.
