Does the president of the United States have the right to order a detainee buried alive?

Oddly, this grotesque question was posed at a U.S. Congressional hearing last week. Even odder was the answer – from John Yoo, former deputy assistant attorney general in the Bush administration, now a law professor at the University of California.

“I don’t think that I’ve ever given the advice that the president could bury somebody alive,” Yoo told a judiciary subcommittee...

Maybe if more of this horror comes out, the misguided patriots will see what the so called 'anti-americans are talking about, anti evil-government is more like it!

I agree.

I find it to be rather sad that the mainstream media hasn't really picked up on this. You'd think they'd be all over it. Whatever happened to journalistic integrity?

Doesn't exist anymore, all drawing the same paypacket, it's only the independents that really get the stuff out there. There are a lot of really brave journalists trying to get this stuff out and it's skimmed over or blocked. Just wrong.

It's too easy to brand anyone questioning the motives or practises of the government as 'anti-American' or 'terrorists' and there too many prepared to do the branding!

I'm pretty sure that a lot more people can see whats happening but who wants to stand out as a 'traitor'?

Yeah, even the corporations are helping. It's amazing how many of the alternate news sites are blocked from work. We use Websense here and it's amusing to see the reasons that the system gives for blocking some of these sites. I've seen everything from "Religion and Occult Folklore" to "Racism and Hate Crimes" on sites that I know are nothing of the sort. One of the news sites came up this morning as being blocked because of "Gambling" and another was blocked for being "Pornography and Sex Related". It's amazing that anyone can find out anything at all anymore. I'm just waiting for them to start being honest and give the reason for blocking alternative news sites as being "Thoughtcrime".
