'Entire life' sold for £192,000

news.bbc.co.uk

Despite expecting higher bids, Mr Usher said he had "no regrets".

At one point offers on the "life lot" rocketed to over two million Australian dollars (£1m) within hours of the sale's start last Sunday.

However, Mr Usher and eBay were forced to introduce a registration system to weed out what were revealed as hoax bids, many of which were from the UK...

After the auction closed Mr Usher said: "I am relatively pleased but I thought it would go a bit higher, if I'm honest.

Why would someone do something like this?

Oh, apparently here's why:

He said: "I've got some ideas. Once it's finished and confirmed, I'd like to do some travelling. I'd like to go to the top of the Eiffel Tower, it's one of a huge list of things I want to achieve."

I hope the Eiffel Tower was worth it.....

If my main goal in life of stuff I'd like to achieve ever became to "see the top of the Eiffel tower", I hope my friends would take pity on me and put me out of my misery. Quickly. And Painlessly.

You are allowed to have a breaking news article and a regular separate thread on the same headline apparently according to Elevatedone.

Yes I know you are..that's why I mentioned that its a good job mine is elsewhere

I'm pleased for the guy. Seems he had quite a quick sale to be honest.
I've tried selling stuff before and just sometimes feels like you'll never see the back of it.

Give this guy 5 to 10 years and I bet you can see a book written by him of his experiences selling on ebay

Wow, I just read the article, and after realising why he did it, i gotta say, this guy needs to grow a pair and act like a man. Your wife left you so you get rid of youe house car and friends? What a wuss. "Oh no, life idn't turn out like I planned so I'm gonna run away from it all and climb the Eifel Tower boo hoo for me." Dude needs to grow up.

Fair play I say...

He's been dumped, so now he's having some fun... Let him play I say... and by the sounds of a few people on here, cheer up and stop taking life so seriously...

Does it not take brass marbles to pick up and start a brand new life with no job and wad of cash? I think this is great! I applaud the guy.

129,000 is not gonna get him far, and the point is, he is in this situation cause he wanted to whine and sell things that reminded ihm of his ex wife. I've been through a divorce, I know how tough it can be, but you don't give up your entire life because of it. You grow, and you don't sell stuff on ebay over it, you keep living. I'm not even sure if that makes sense, but it did in my head before i typed it so it's staying in case it makes sense again later.

They were saying "Fair play" When the nazi party started touting off socialist values while labelling anyone who disagreed with them communists.

"Fair play" is not "Fun play".

This fool has literally signed his life away.
