I just clicked on you Israel Today link, I cant help but wonder if the US and Europe giving Israel the go ahead is just some way for the US to say, "Well, we have to back Israel now that they attacked..." in order to infiltrate the country.

They have to. Everyone who is not fully backing Israel will immediately be accused of anti-semitism (completely disregarding the fact that a semite is a term describing the entire collection of languages and cultures in the area, including Arabic).

Israel is like a scared dog, stick your hand out to pet it and its likely to bite you.

Kind of reminds me of another, much larger country in a different part of the world.

Yes, and the sad thing is those people are Persians over there... They aren't even Arabs.

I would also bet my next paycheck most of the people over there are just like us here in the US. They just want to raise their families. I suspect that its that way the world over including the Arabs and its the very few that screw all of us... We are all scared into thinking they are the boogey man.. They being us and them... It really pisses me off...

That is very true. A former employee of mine is a Persian whose family escaped Iran when the islamists took over. Teheran is a large city, just like any other large city in the world. People wear normal clothes, aside from women having to wear veils while outdoors since the islamists came to power. Women work just as well as men. They speak Persian, not Arabic and the two languages are quite unlike each other. Teheran is in most regards very similar to any major western city. If religion would be a factor (I don't think it should be, but it is apparently important to many people), most of the people aren't even muslims, and fact is that the origins of Christianity came to be in Iran and Syria. There are still lots of Christians in Iran.

This is what people seem to have a hard time realizing...every time the Leader of Iran speaks he talks about annialating Israel.

Well.. this was a translation error. an error on purpose. he did not say israel has to be eradicated, he said the occupation of israel by thos forces has to be stopped.

Sooner or later Ahmadinejad is going to unleash nuclear holocaust on Isreal. That’s not a conspiracy theory that is what has come out of his mouth.

He did not say that he is going to use nuclear weapons. iran (as mny here also stated) has halted the military atomic program.
sooner or later the USA/Israel are dropping a A-bomb on iran, just to prevent the iran from developing a WOMD. a WOMD like the iraq possesed (NOT).

Now if a country was threatening the US with nuclear war what would we do. We would protect ourselves and that is what Israel said they would do. So, we are a very good allies of Israel and if Iran ever did attack them then we would have to stand behind Israel in a Nuclear war.

Iran attacks? i did not realize that. must be just me..
and if you are talking about defending isral/US, then you mean with defense an attack? attack ist the best defense, yes?!
hell, why don't they build they missile defense system there?!

Our president is trying to push Iran economy into collapse right now so the leadership of that country will loose its hold on the country and new leadership might spring up. In doing so our Government is hoping that the economic pressures on the country will keep it from pushing forward with and war making capability and cause Iran to look more at its infrastructure and people therefore keeping them from attacking Israel. So basically our country is trying to stop WW3. That is why we have added pressure on Iran right now. Do you guys realize that Iran is trying to hurt us economically right now. Did you know that they are stock piling Oil right now trying to get oil prices up to cause economic pressure in the west.

first you are saying "(y)our" president is raisng the pressure on ahmadinejat (and so the whole country has to suffer). your president has the right to do so. now next sentence, you write ahmadinejat is doing the same. but this is bad. interesting.
you are measuriong with two different weights here.
you mean, he is keeping irans oil? this is not possible, really. how many stores are there to store the oil? well, they would be full, fast. but maybe iran is going into the euro and kisses the dollar goodbye. this also was the reason why iraq was attacked.

Ahmadinejad said that, that is not a theory it is the truth. Iran is helping to drive oil prices up to hurt us...I have stated nothing but facts. It is a fact that if Iran continues down this path that Israel will take action and when that happens, we will have to stand behind them.

fact is, the whole western world is paying more and more for the gas because the government of the USA is needing very badly any cent they can get to bomb down any resistance in iraq and iran with depleted uranium shells and bombs. in fact, american soldiers are getting sick every day, are getting the gulf syndrome, are getting horrible shaped kids. and all that just because the NWO is just one step ahead.
i know you know it, but you are just tryaing to get your sheeps back onto the green grass, or lets say: you want us to go back to the "good" TV, eat our fish 'n chips.. just like in the above shgown video discussed.

but therefore, i have another video for you, and i just translated it for those who are willing to see the truth.

Bush isn't attacking Iran so he can stay in office. This is just about legacy or payoffs. Either Bush is doing this now because he knows Obama wont. Or this is just more payoffs from the arms industry into Bush pockets.

I'm not at all suprised by this story. What would have been truly shocking would have been a story stating that the U.S. has NOT initiated covert ops against Iran. I mean, did anyone truly believe that U.S. doesn't play ball that way? Another thing, is $400 million dollars alot for covert ops? I know it's alot of money for most people, but what does your run-of-the-mill covert op cost? I for one have no idea.

IMO, it should have been fairly obvious that Iran has been the end-game of this whole thing from the start. Think about it in geographic terms. First, Afghanistan is taken on the eastern flank of Iran. Then Iraq is taken on the western flank of Iran. Yeah, Pakistan is over there on the east, too but they're more or less obedient. No real threat from the north and the south needs no explanation. So, what you have is a perfect stage to put the squeeze on Iran from opposing directions. Iran is a big country and much more organized than its neighbors, so you'd need to be well prepared for the task. I think that the reason U.S. hasn't already taken Iran down is that Iraq, and to a lesser extent, Afghanistan have operationally gone so poorly that U.S. couldn't realistically accomplish the task. Now, if you get Israel to carry the bulk of the load for some type of limited offensive I think you might have something realistic.

Just my 2 cents

iran is not the end in my opinion. if you read "the grand chessbook" from Zbigniew Brzezinksi
www.wanttoknow.info...
then you see (just do a search about him for those who never heard about it), his strategy (he is an obama supporter as he supported many presidents... is to surround russia and get finally rid of it. he explains how he is going to use the nato from one front and the countries from the south (iran, afghanistan, pakistan and so on) to encircle the former sovjet countries.
don't forget that pakistan was used to get afghanistan down. thre are so many things happening there, it is overwhelming. what reaches us is written over and over again, but the census tweaks it all...

and as stated by many prophets, russia is forced to do something. this way russia fights some not so far away day back and goes south and all the way to israel.. just to be stopped by some power at a time, all those "belivers" are willing to die for - for this day is the day, jesus is coming back again. for christians the second time, for the jews the first time, and for the arabs for the last time.. or somehow kind of like that.
all i want to say is, this is not even planned by some men (who are thinking its their masterplan) but in the end, it is all stated in the bible. and many of us knew also in what time we are living. we knew it from the start..
that something is going to happen. it has left us in the last years and the media almost gpt us by the guts, convinced us almost to believe in this crappy consum stuff and we swam with the fishes..
but now this feeling, this knowing comes back.
i am also going to get some cans and drinking water. not much, just a bit to come along for some weeks..
prepare for a nasty endgame. live for the day. enjoy life. be ready to step in front of our father and be ready to justify what you did on the material earth.
or maybe we are some of those who survive. i will be glad to live long after this happening.
peace to all of you

they also sell the oil on the internet directly to the oil companies and countries all over the world. this cuts out the middleman and stops speculation. IRAN GO BOOM!

If we see 3 battle groups in the gulf then things are about to get hot.

I highly doubt you will see three carrier battle groups in the Persian Gulf as this represents half of the deployed carrier task forces and would create a situation of 'too many eggs in one basket'. The more likely scenario would be to locate two groups in or near the Arabian Sea within striking distance of Iran and the Straits of Hormuz and an additonal battle group in the Mediteranean to conduct further sorties and be on standby incase Iran's ally, Syria, enters any conflict.

Their Military is well trained and motivated, unlike the armies faced by allied forces in the 2 Gulf Wars.

I think this is a rather poor analogy as the Republican Guard was considered properly motivated and equally feared. The ability for ground forces to stay motivated against an opponent that has air supremacy is not a position I would wish to argue.

Their anti aircraft systems are much more advanced than Iraq's, granted they will have problems combating stealth and cruise attacks but the US does not have an entire airforce of stealth bombers

You do not need an entire fleet of stealth aircraft to disable an enemies anti-aircraft defences. The current fleet is adequate in its scope and with the addition of ship-fired cruise missiles is execptionally capable.

Also there is the matter of the Sunburn anti ship missile. Being mobile they will be difficult to track down, remember the trouble we had with the Scuds? And if one of these missiles, just one, gets through...

The problem that the 5th fleet may face from this possible threat is the close quarters situation of the Straits of Hormuz. Reaction time for our anti missile defenses are severly limited by the narrowness of the straits. As I previously mentioned the carrier battle groups will most likely be located in the Arabian Sea. In this theater the response time jumps up to 25 to 30 seconds, more than enough time counter an incoming attack from Iranian coastal batteries. Additionally, at this distance there is good reason to believe that our multiple layered missle defenses can defeat the Sunburn in an event where several are deployed at once.

I have been saying this since the last election, one of two things would happen before the elections...

1. Attack on Iran.
2. Attack on America bigger than 911 and blame Iran.

If it saves an American city and millions of lives to only attack Iran, and not pull off another OKC, 911, 7-7 or 93 WTC attack on private peoples as an excuse to attack Iran, Then I hope for #1 myself.

Although I don't understand why some of you who badmouth the MSM constantly want to use the fact that this story was on CNN as a reason to believe it, I do think it's a possibility.

Likely? No. But a possibility. The Iran situation is gonna come to a head one way or another eventually, and when it does I feel a lot of innocent people are going to die, again.

Oh yes, the person who posted this believes in "MARSHALL LAW".

Yes indeed, the ignorant continue to rant on about this and that, but they literally can not understand what they hear and read. They "understand", with their 3rd grade reading skills, that there is some kind of a vast conspiracy out there, that prevents them from becoming millionaires; that keeps them down; and is bringing our country to ruin.

Sorry folks, but CNN does not give a damn about the USA, in fact it would love to turn this country into a Socialist paradise.

They would also love to see thousands of American GI's killed by the enemies of this country. They would trumpet that all over the world.

I have heard a draft may exist if so then I will be one of them getting picked since I recently signed up for the list since it's a requirement when going to college well when you turn 18 by law you have to enlist, and in order for me to go to college I needed fed aid and it was a requirement.

I have heard that we will be doing mostly air strikes on Iran.

However I also heard later on once Iran get troops in Iraq or close to the boarder we will then start attacking in Iran by foot well the border.

also I thought it was funny that on fox news they said that Iraq is better than ever and said that we done a good job there, they are trying to set americans up so they can make it seem like Iran is invading Iraq so we can legally attack Iran.

I also talked to a guy that Is in Iran he was on yahoo answers and asked if their is going to be a war with Iran he is frightened and wanted to know so if it is going to happen so they can move to another country this was a while back like 2 months ago.
I told him yes it's going to happen. I then told him things can change from now to a month from now so I gave him this website ATS and told him read the web page on make your own judgment..

The more I see about the U.S the more it makes me upset.

I really think going into Iraq was illegal.

here is what bush first said about Iraq that we are going in their because of weapons of
mass destruction which we didn't find any he slowly then said we are their to help the Iraqies, they showed us dropping food to them for aid.
Then bush said we are their because of suddam he killed many innocent and he is a dictator and he needs to step down. This infringes one of our constitution which say's that we can't go into another country just because we don't like how they govern their country which is the reason bush said that is why we killed suddam.

I talked to Iraqis and they told me suddam killed many people even his own son-in-law the reason he knew his sun-in-law was working for the U.S as a spy, the reason he knew was that he would talk about latest top secret stuff and notice the U.S finding out instantly. He tested this by talking misleading information and that misleading information was given to the U.S which they thought was legit so then he went after his son-in-law and also some other guys that he found out were working for the U.S as spies however they knew what viliage those guys were at but didn't know which building so they took out the villege, i think with teargas or somthing not fully sure on that.
This is what the people here which had family over in Iraq and had some members in high rankings. in the Iraqi military.

Well I just hope the Gas prices don't rise because of this Iran warfare.

I live in Bahrain just across the waters from Iran and I have to say that we have been hearing the spine chilling war drums rattling for quite some time now, it's reached fever pitch. Please read the following articles that have appeared in our local newspaper , the Gulf Daily News. I ask myself why is it that no one has been able to stop the Psychopathic War plotters and criminals (you know who that are)in the States and how can we just sit by and let it happen? All anyone wants in this part of the world is to maintain Peace and harmony, which is what we have now in the Persian Gulf. Iran has enjoyed good neighbourly relations with the Gulf States for a long time and we are about to let a foreigh force bomb the country back to the stone age just as they have done to Iraq.......Bush needs to be impeached and the sooner the better!

Here is the war rhetoric yet again spouting from the War mongerers

Iranian blockade 'an act of war'
www.gulf-daily-news.com...

MANAMA: Any Iranian move to blockade the Strait of Hormuz would be considered as an "act of war", a top US military official said yesterday.

Iran would "not be allowed" to take control of the key oil route and an attempt to do so would provoke a "vigorous" international response, said outgoing Fifth Fleet Commander Vice-Admiral Kevin Cosgriff.

He was responding to Iranian Revolutionary Guard commander General Mohammed Ali Jafari's warning on Saturday that Iran would choke off the strait if the country was attacked.

A quarter of the world's oil supplies pass through the narrow stretch, between the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Gulf.

"I cannot imagine, given the critical nature of that body of water, that the international community would not be outraged should Iran or any entity move to restrict the freedom of navigation," Vice-Adm Cosgriff told a Press conference at the US navy base in Juffair.

"They are not going to be allowed to do so. It would be an act of war. "In a tight oil market, the international community would respond vigorously to that." He would not specify what action the US would take.

My comment on this is : So it's ok to attack a sovereign nation on lies but don't even dare call that an ACT OF WAR.

ok, so yesterday was my first day in Israel, I am now officially 7 hours ahead of you east coasters, 9 ahead of the west coast, and I had a chance to talk briefly with my pops on the Iran situation.

He thinks that we will definitely be attacking Iran before Bush gets out.
By we, i mean Israel.
He said that the US, Europe, and possibly France has given them the go ahead.
Israel will wait however, until they have as much backing as possible to show that they have a lot of force behind them if Iran, or anyone else, decides to attack back.
and like some of you have mentioned, the US is sending battle ships to the coast as we speak.

He also mentioned that they, Israel, knows that if McCain becomes president he will support the war, and that they were worried about Obama, but now apparently he also stated that he would back Israel in the fight.

I mentioned that Iran is, as we speak, preparing 320,000 graves for enemy soldiers, and he thought that was silly since it will be all air strikes.

so, thats the thoughts of an average Israeli citizen.
like all Israelis, my dad served in the Israeli army back in the day and stayed on for a few extra years to become an officer.
He then joined some type of secret service and retired a while back.

I can't understand anything the news is saying, but my cousin from cali just moved out here after graduating from columbia university to continue his studies and I get to hang out with him today.
I'll mention the situation to him and ask him what the news over here has been saying as he keeps up with all that stuff.

Oh, and i would also like to add that my dad was surprised when I told him that not a lot of americans know about this upcoming potential for war as apparently it is common knowledge here, and has been for quite some time.

While, I dont trust CNN particularly, I do trust that a big news agency would only release information like this to prepare the general public for a possible attack.
Whether or not they spin the story one way or another, who knows, but we have to read in between the lines.
