I only read the first few pages so maybe this was already mentioned but while you guys are arguing over whether or not animated/drawn depictions of nude children should be illegal, did you know that ACTUAL photographs and videos of child nudity is classified as art and is completely legal? At least in the United States...

It would be silly to ban the fake stuff and keep the real, wouldn't it?

But to address the topic specifically, this brings us the question of what should be classified as art and what as pornography. Without getting too graphic, does porn equal physical sexual contact, the human body without clothing, or something as petty as a kiss? This subject is complicated, delicate and open to a wide range of interpretations.

Personally, I think the idea of banning drawings, no matter what they depict, is ridiculous.

After reading some of the comments in this thread I'm glad that final legislative decisions are left up to Constitutional lawyers.

Then you look across the street at the neighbor that has the bright yellow Ferrari, you will then want to go and drive that Ferrari.

As a person who knows a person who was sexually assaulted when she was around 5, it's sickening to think that these pedophiles get joy and pleasure out of anything having to do with children and sexual acts.

Wow hong long did it take you to drum this theory up!!! We all watch commercials and videos of amazing cars, bikes, houses, etc.... and yet not every person that fantasizes about driving these vehicles or owning these possetions breaks the law in order to obtain these possetions... I don't think animation can compare to the sick fantasies going through their sick heads. Also if we decide we want our governments to start censoring animation where would it end? Furthermore how can anyone identify animated character as underage? What makes a cartoon a child as opposed to a young looking adult? I think it would be impossible to regulate.

I would however support legislation that would call for a mandatory death penalty for anyone convicted of molesting a child. It has been shown that a child molester can't be rehabilitated.
