Hi,

I posted this yesterday under a heading about issues with posting pictures.

Issue is now sorted so I thought I'd try again.

A colleague of mine is a paraglider and he & some friends saw this thing moving through the sky independently. The two items didn't seem to be attached, but were rotating round one another.

Not sure what it is, and there is likely to be an explanation, but would appreciate any thoughts.

The picture was taken by a paraglider.

Regards

The photo is actually a thumbnail, but even the original is a postage stamp sized one:

To the op: could you please share the original, unresized photo straight from camera?
Thanks in advance

Sorry - this is as big as I can post it for some reason.

I'd be happy to email the file to anyone who might be able to do a better job!

I've sent you an U2U (our private communication messages) with my email address:
click here to enter your U2U in-box.
It is important that you share the original image, containig exif data, straight from the camera.
If there are some copyright issues, i will watermark the image for you, anyway your original image will be safe and it won't be shared.

Looks to me like a weaved strap sort of material. The kind of thing used in safety harnesses, etc.

*shrugs*

Here's the full res photo (cropped)

I've started a thread in aircraft projects and alerted some experts in this very specific subject matter.

Weird looking picture, thanks for getting up a higher res version.

The two objects don't show any kind of motion blur, so I guess the shutter speed or what ever was fast enough to catch them with any blur... Did they say how fast they were rotating around each other, was it like slow windmill or like a propeller type speed...?

The way the two objects are not attached, makes it seem not possible to be doing what its doing. However the picture seems legit...

Thanks

Thanks Internos... I am no expert but to me it looks like some kind of baloons and they have something tied to their ends. The tied end may be to keep the air in those things... just a thought

I have to agree with communicator that they look like balloons. I see they are definately inflated, but as to what purpose they have....
Good photo, though.

No way bro...its those pesky skydiving invisible ninjas. One can clearly indicate that the falling ninja forgot to cloak his nunchucks. Nothing to see here folks.

Because it is in the sky and he doesn't know what it is. So, wouldn't that
make it ans Unidentified Flying Object?

Thats the reason it is in this forum.

Gauncents,

Many thanks for your helpful input on this!

I think Xayden answered your question.

Very cool regardless of what it is! So you were all skydiving and caught this photo? Imagine that, free falling and look up to see something like this, man, aren't you glad there is a place like ATS to share such a moment?

Shouldn't these (and all) large leisure sky-bourne toys be banned?

I'd hate to be on some jetliner at lower altitude taking-off or landing when the pilot gets spooked by one of these things. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the toys even reach the lower jetliner cruising altitudes. hey -would you like the attendants' coffee trolley land on your head after the pilot dives unexpectedly for one of them?
