Obama is possibly the single most Liberal, Socialist Candidate to ever run for the office and will effectively destroy this country if elected...

The same was said for John Kerry.
Does this just apply to ALL democrats running for President in the near future?

You know, with the amount of mud slinging thats been going on around here in the Decision 2008 forum I almost busted you for an off topic post because you were actually discussing politics!!!!

Kudos to you Rock - and also to Semper - for kicking the debate up out of the gutter here.

I just hope other people learn from your examples.

You make a very good point, neformore.
I'd also like to say that they're not the only ones. Benevolent Heretic has posted some very stunning posts that support Obama, much in the way that semper and rockpuck have disagreed with Obama.

There are a few others as well.

im not hijacking my own thread, im just using my own thread to convey "thank you's" to other people that i believe deserve the "deny ignorance" award

It does appear that the extreme left-leaning candidates have gotten the most support/money from the democratic partisans in the last couple of elections. In recent history (which for most people doesn't go beyond Carter), the presidential candidates from the democratic party have been very liberal. The last 3 candidates have stretched the envelope a bit.

My biggest concern over Obama is his domestic social policy and his global defense policy. It's nearly impossible to nail down what he actually has planned, but he certainly seems to favor expanded government and higher taxes for working people and more entitlements for everyone else. Given his support from the extreme left, that is a popular stance to have. If elected, he'll bask in the praise from the liberal/socialist/communist (take your pick) while he creates a welfare state where all of the incentive to work hard is removed.
