Syria opens site to U.N. atom probe

news.yahoo.com

VIENNA (Reuters) - Syria gave U.N. investigators a good look at the site of what Washington says was a secret nuclear reactor before Israel destroyed it, but initial checks were inconclusive and more are needed, they said on Wednesday.

Chief U.N. inspector Olli Heinonen said his team was able to take extensive environmental samples at the remote desert location and the sensitive inquiry was off to "a good start," with Syria's cooperation generally satisfactory at this stage.

You all remember the Israeli strike in Syria a while back. It will be VERY interesting to see where this goes.

Hm. Lots of cooperation from certain parties these days.
Too bad it only seems to be given under threats and violence.
There are quite a few people in the region that know that the last thing they want to see is an Israel with gloves off looking for a big fight.

And they won`t find anything because there was nothing to see - i want to see Israel actually comply with the IAEA and stop threatening to kill them if they go near dimona.

Good point. Israel needs to open up to inspection as well. One cannot point fingers at others and then not expect to be calls for scrutiny of their own backyard. Humanity needs to grow up, and grow up fast.

I just can't imagine that if this site was nuclear that no one would have detected it by now. This whole story is, was and shall continue to remain VERY shady.
