You can order it online in about 10 minutes and it will be here in 7 days.

OOOPS sorry change that to 3 to 4 weeks this year... still under a Grand $

www.nitro-pak.com...

I have an old SAMS club list from 1998 somewhere here, and if I can find it I'll post it... The prices have changed, and some items are no longer available, but you can still do it in a day.

One Sec... searching Hard drives... going to backup USB drive...

Look here while you are waiting... Basic template for long term food storage.. waltonfeed.com...

By the way, its INSURANCE you can EAT that increases in VALUE every day. Best possible investment / insurance available.

Ok I have to reboot to get the drive to read. I'll edit this post to supply the OLD local SAMS club list for you.

Best Regards,

Blitzkreigen

Exactly how I feel ..I have put so much time and learning into my plans...

You need people who know what they are doing around in a sit X ..otherwise they may become "dead weights"...and having to sort them out and teach the absolute basics would compromise my position!!

I am in the UK ...and there are very few that actually have an idea how to look after themselves...,,,

The snenario you explained is exactly how I see it..

No one I know personally wants to even look at how things are panning out....they think you are a paranoid pessimist..

Getting to know people on the net that are like minded...I have found that a bit ..worrisome !!lol

So my best scenario...I have family ..and my wife and I want them to come...they are not into the survival thing (" Oh it will sort itself out ...it will get better ) Oh no it won't !!..but they do trust my judgment...I know in a sit X they would be bloody hard work..but they are family!..

there is saftey in numbers ..fact!

So the other scenario...wife and I get away..and family don't...Hopefully ...we manage to get away to a hidy hole and lie low,,,but watch and listen...The UK is a small place ..and I know there will be others.....hopefully we may bump into the like minded and then because we are there for the same reasons...people start to band together..

I don't forsee people moving out of the city to wilder places happening quickly..even if at all...because the main motivation is food...the only things that could give you a good meal without foraging are sheep..we have a lot of them up north in the UK,,but without the knowledge ...that type of environment..they won't last long!

Just my thoughts..

In fact I would be interested to know how many in the UK..have first aid knowledge..? because it realy is an important skill?

Thats why I say a "Squad of Marines".

Trained, Alert, Moral, can Lead or Follow, been there done that, still wearing the Tee Shirt.

A lot of folks are retired Military, and I think they are our best option.
They all have minimum First aid training as well, if not Combat Medic Certifications.

About '10' of My Grandfathers Generation would be hard to beat as well.

Truly the Greatest Generation, and not forgotten!

I have more than first-aid knowledge as I and my partner are both nurses - she a Respiratory Nurse and myself Trauma and Orthopaedics Nurse. There are a few that haunt this forum that are nurses as well.

Your Skills are worth more than GOLD, and you will always have a place to help LARGE numbers of People.

Provided you have access to supplies.......

It might get down right Medieval with boiling water and ripping up shirts and sheets.

Antibiotics? Pain Killers... X- Rays... IV's... Sterile instruments ... all gone...

It really takes more than what the layman appreciates in quantity and variety of Medical Supplies for even a small scale Field 'Aid Station'.

I'm glad you guys are tuned in, now turn up the volume a notch.

Any recommendations on over the counter antibiotics, or alternative Natural Pain Killers? I know its a dictionary full... dont even bother with a reply in this thread..

Thats why we have Specialists like you. You will always be able to 'trade' for that skill. I think we should all learn at least basic LIFESAVING First Aid Immediately, ( Air, Pulse, Bleeding, Shock, Immobilize, etc... )

Just the FACT that someone is at your side who is trained and is trying to help you immediately makes a lot of the Pain and shock dissapear, as you know someone is helping you who has an idea what they are doing. The pain signals have served their purpose, and alerted you to your injury, now they can be 'let go' as you receive care. Works for me anyway...

All the Best...

Wotan

I trained as a Health Care assistant and a good one!!!! did the Btech, NVQ ( not very qualified ) and any course I could do ..and passed with flying colours..even offered paid nurse training..I had been in the NHS 3 years!!..

Most of my life before that had been Army, clerk then joiner..then a change ..Nursing ...it was like being a sponge soaking up all this first aid knowledge..

There was a reason for me to learn the skills...First aid knowledge should be a real priority...if you haven't a clue..any injury...you get..and you don't treat...has just lessened your chances of survival!!

We have had similar paths. Ex-Royal Navy (also cadet instructor) then HCA, then Senior HCA, then seconded onto Pre-Reg Nurse Training, been in the NHS since 2000. The missus also had a similar path, her being ex-army, then HCA then nurse training.

I have been on this site awhile now. Finally became a member just so I could post to this thread. This is a great concept and I wish this was getting more attention.

A few years back I realized surviving alone where I lived was not an option, in any scenario. So I found a part of the country where my odds would be better and I would have the ability to find more like minded people.

Since that time, I have joined with roughly 15 people of varying backgrounds in case something ever happens to modern society. We have purchased land, constructed buildings, sunk wells, and are fairly well organized.

We are not cultists, just people who get together a few times a year to prepare for the worst. Share new ideas, plan our "community" should we ever need it, and identify places we need to improve.

Granted, this type of scenerio will not work everywhere for everyone. If you are in a large metro area, my prayers go out to you. However, for those of us who are determined to not be a victim, there are things you can do. One, buy land away from other people. 2nd, be personable. Dont be someone who gives off the impression that we are all doomed and its time to run into the woods with your rifle and can of beans. Lastly, find others like you. Where I live, its very easy, people here are hardend by the land and enjoy being able to take care of themselves. In other areas you will need a little more work. Use ATS, or other blog sites, go to local gun shows, get to know the people at local farms, these are the places you will find others who can help you. A guy that buys 3k worth of gear and food and puts it in his basement is useless to me. I want people who can create resources from what is around them.

This is a great thread, and I hope it doesnt die out. For those of us who really think bad days are ahead, we need each other and more like us to ensure our survival.

Welcome to ATS and especially this forum. Any advice, tips or knowledge you may have will be welcome here. Feel free to input at anytime.

We are quite a mixed bunch, from people that like to grow their own, to off-gridders, self-sufficient types, eco-living and outdoorsman to people that live in places of bad weather to end of the worlders.

You've just made my point! I said "like minded people" meaning people that are survivalists, or have beneficial skills. People that will add to the group, not hinder it. And if all have the necessary knowledge and skills then there would be no problem voting or selecting a leader. You, for example, if you have more knowledge than everyone else, then you'de make a great leader for your group.

Thanks, But I tend to think that "my" group will be formed AFTER the fact.

I know a couple of people that I can trust, and that have knowledge that is beneficial, but thats only 'under 10' total since the early 1980's.

Most of those people have moved, or gone on to greener pastures.

That leaves about 3 in 28 years that I can count on today, ( not including Family )

I just think that most people wont get it in time, and after the fact everyone will be getting it, and be ready to continue eating.

As far as leading...., well I know what I need to do , and if anyone wants to follow that method , they will be welcome to watch and make up their own minds.

I'm not so sure I want to be "LED" or be a Leader, I just want to eat and drink for a while un-bothered by outside negative forces.

I really see groups forming rapidly after the fact for simple SURVIVAL.

Beforehand, no one has showed me much dedication, knowledge or desire to do what it takes.

We will see, and I do see your point, just a little later on down the line....

Whenever you choose to form your group is always your choice, but to use your words to prove my point about doing it before TSHTF, how many people with those skills you listed have the survival skills to last until after it happens? That is why i say form before so you can teach them! Those skills will be totally useless if they are dead.

All too often, however, i have seen this used as an excuse to impose leadership over the person being taught.

It's all well and good teaching people how to survive, but it's usually polite to ask them whether or not they already know how.

Assumptions can split your group apart faster than you can say "Over-Trained".

P.S: I note that your signature goes along the lines of "Death is the only Guarentee in life" or such and such.

Perhaps "Open Hostility is the ultimate form of Honesty" would be a good addition to that?

That is why i said teach them if they don't have any survival skills. Only a power hungry person would use that to gain leadership! I for one would follow someone with more knowledge than me to ensure my survival. But i have been camping(not with the luxuries of home either) and hunting since i was three(I'm 38). Never used a camper or any of the fancy sh!t. My dad made sure i could survive by myself in the woods with no firearm to help. To practise, me and my brother, who is 2 years older, would spend a week in the woods with just a knife each, a small tent, and some matches.

I would never follow someone who grabs for power, i would constantly be paranoid over whether or not i was being used as a tool rather than as a key asset.

Such people have a tendancy to leave the wounded behind, too.

You could say i'm a believer of the ideal of "No one gets left behind" - and that includes with training.

I live about 35 miles NE of Tulsa. Are you nearby? U2U me if you are and maybe we can arrange a get-together.

My husband basically humors me on the survival issue so, at the very least I'll have someone to talk to that views this as a possible reality.
