FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. -- The chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors is asking the U.S State Department to decide whether a controversial Saudi government-funded Islamic school should remain open.

Gerry Connolly -- who is the Democratic nominee for Congress in Virginia's 11th District -- offered a strong defense of the Islamic Saudi Academy and accused the school's critics of slander during a meeting last month in which the school's lease was approved but asked on Monday for the State Department's recommendation.

I found this story interesting because recently there was a flap over the fact that state run schools IN Saudi Arabia have been using text books that urge violence and were very hatefull towards Jews and America. There was some pressure on the House of Saud by the US to change those textbooks. Little did we know we have much of the same right here in the nation's capital's back yard.

Perhaps the US should fund Christian schools and churches in Saudi Arabia? They could distribute books with offensive pictures of the prophet Mohammed. I'm sure the Saudi's won't mind.
