Well that has yet to be seen.
And even if it is true, this is what the US wanted. They wanted the six-party talks; it was North Korea and critics of the administration who wanted single-party talks.
The reason why the US didn't want direct talks was because it was unsuccessful in the past, but things change and you always need to have a dialog going to take advantage of it when they do.
My point though was that I think we should at least try talking first like in the case with Iran, before we attack. If they don't cooperate and they need to be dealt with, so be it. It is just irresponsible not to talk first.
