Seems like a plan until the neighbors convince the authorities that it is not their work. Next stop, everyone within a radius of so many 100s of feet of their place.

Guess if one drives around various neighborhoods....

That is a completely different context and has absolutely nothing to do with people talking about conspiracy theories. Obviously pain medications have a black market and many people use illegal drugs - rightly or wrongly - to cure their pain. There is no illegal activity associated with ATS, and no discussion of illegal activity is allowed.

People are free to claim everything is some massive government conspiracy - its not illegal to do so - why would the government care? Some of the threads here do more to discredit conspiracy theories in the first place.

Yes, I am aware of that, I believe I said so in my post.
The only reason I used it as an example was in an attempt to find an occasion where the gov managed to get the names of the posters of the forum. In that case they did it legally cause it was a criminal investigation.

I think it held weight. You have to know that the FBI has a unit that investigates government fraud internally, so I would say if the government didn't monitor various sites (hence, Not Just ATS) then they would be at a great disadvantage.

You also have to understand that each governmental unit doesn't know what the next unit is doing. So, if someone on an internet forum posted something about FDA issuing pharmaceutical companies a green light on drugs for a fee, and not even investigating the drug, you a darn sure the government will be monitoring that site. That is a conspiracy theory in itself, at first. Not, all conspiracies are doom and gloom.

Lastly, did you look at SO and Springers post about how when certain subjects come about on this site, certain government IP addresses start showing up in the logs.

So, in conclusion, if you think that they don't look at these and other sites, please investigate instead of trying to disprove this as just a blow in the wind.

I re-read your post and had to add one more thing, we don't have to do anything illegal here for the government to look at us. What we talk about here is a lot of the illegal acts the government does.

Here's one for you troopers out there, and it sort of covers several bases at once...

About a year ago, I was on ATS as a newbie, responding to a post that asked the question..."If you were a terrorist, what or where would you strike?"

Well...I have a military background & I responded as well as several other people. The next day I checked the thread & was I shocked to find that ATS closed the thread. Mr. Springer will recall, as I remember his "mug shot avatar," (no harm intended!), was on what I was given the closing statements.

Now thinking back to that moment, I believe that it was in the best interest of ATS to close the thread, box up all the posts, & take them outside to the "burn can." Having said that, it was a very sobering moment to say the least. I can assure everyone that if a "certain string of words are written," you may full well expect your name to appear on someones list in the deep dark bowels of a 3 letter government agency at an undisclosed location. And do not attempt to persuade me otherwise after having experienced what occurred here on ATS. I had no black vehicles parked near my house fortunately.

One must simply be prudent & use good judgement in the post 911 years. And yes, it is great to use the term "post 911 years," because many threats have been vanquished due to vigilance on behalf of those charged with such tasks. For that we should all be thankful.

Actually sites, such as ATS is a pretty good source of info for the agencies too. Not just about matters, what ordinary people are experiencing and posting here, but also, it's giving them a great opportunity to study the behavior of people. And if they infiltrate the site too, they also can make nice disinfo campaign if they want to. There is always a reason why sites, such as ATS can exists. It's a hub for info, where from they can choose the real info, what for the need and sometimes, they're adding their own disinfo. It's like a large game, nothing more.

For the Government ATS is like the community sites, such as MySpace. MySpace is rather a pretty good info source about the citizens, sometimes better then their own data bank, because the users are updating their profiles day by day, what the Feds cannot do with their own data bank. ATS is the same. It's holding the personal thoughts of the people, their personal thoughts about different matters. ATS is a valuable info source about people what they cannot get from other places and even maybe they never would hear from you in the real life.

zorgon. Actually they're still using black vans... to escort limos and VIPs.

Nobody is saying we are important here. I promise people take things out of context.

Having a list with out our consent or even when we do not do a crime just doesn't sit well with a lot of us.

posted on Jun, 23 2008 @ 03:07 AM

If federal agents are listening, I am absolutely available to sit on the internet and get paid to post disinformation for my country, I am drug and disease free, well educated, under employed and have enough of a back ground in psychology to figure out if posters have mental disorders or are dangerously psychotic. I hate pedophilles and terrorists. My background includes web design and video production if production skills are needed.

I suppose you know where to find me and I am totally serious and can comfortably pass a psychological and physical exam.

I know
I just really have given this situation allot of thought and... well, I'm not up to anything and none of these laws has impacted my life in anyway for years and years now and... I just stopped caring a long time ago...

If listening to me rant and rave helps identify some lunatic that wants to build an a-bomb, so be it... but in the end, i'm pretty hum drum, so they know my porn collection and that I like to try and figure out things and like to argue about innane topics and.... whatever, lol

But seriously, I should be paid to do this so Please! the above post stands... I am available for work, starting yesterday... I'm an expert in Photoshop, I can write, handle a Camera... I really would enjoy that kind of job.

To be quite honest with you...they probably can track you while your taking a dunk.

Technology is there - simply see what we have and realize the obvious that they are a bit more advanced than we as consumers are - and then you can sit back and relax.

That really is the point I would guess...not to worry about it.
You have to be true to yourself, whatever that truth is.

If your fearful and nervous than your not being true to yourself, and sure...there will be things to be worried about - but only because that is what is created by your perception.

The whole mentality of us vs. them keeps the fuel going.
Love steps in and erases the boundaries, thus weakening what was previously seen as an enemy.

Put simply, acceptance.
Not acceptance that you are stuck and cant do anything - though if it is true that you are stuck and cant do anything, will fear help?

Its acceptance that right now, everything is fine.
Truly...I doubt your being tortured, we as humans do this to ourselves enough as it is...

I can hear rings of protest sounding off - "if we dont fight, they will get their way!"
Well, what you fight or persist.

Its all stories, everything... its all perceptions and labels of right and wrong coming out of the polar sides...but everything is connected to each other - there is no pure opposite. Look at the earth and its poles connected to each other by the mass in the middle - the poles pale in size in the comparison to what lies in the middle ground.

Acceptance may seem like weakness - to the ego.
But true acceptance and surrender to what is allows you to make change.
Yes, words are limited and you must look past them to where they are pointing and really feel what is being said instead of 'thinking' about it.

So, to the point.
Is the government tracking you? Or can they?
Im sure they can. But do you care? Why should you?

You have opinions that differ from them? Is that a crime?
Im sure people would like it to be, but the universe prevails and we do have that one freedom of choice. (albeit on a philosophical level you could argue there is no such thing as choice.)

But for now take practical steps.
i.e., start to look at the good that is happening in your life which surrounds you everyday. And that which seems like it has so much control over you, will start to look quite small - until you realize that it indeed is just a game, a system. Neither good nor bad but serves it purpose for the time it is here.

All things pass away, but love.
Love is the acceptance of people where they are.
Again, this does not mean you cannot actively make change in your life - but we cant do it for each other.

You want change? It starts in you and ends in mystical new agey as this sounds...the world reflects that of our current state.

It reflects mass consciousness state as well as individual.
You may be surprised that hell can also be the dwelling place of heaven.

Consider the story of the people that died and went to hell and heaven.
In both rooms there was a great feast - but the forks were so long you could not reach your mouth to eat the food in front of you.

In hell, people starved...they just could not get the fork to their mouth.
In heaven everyone was plump and fat...they fed each other.

I know, Im not a story teller - but the gist of it is there.
It is what you make it.

And if there is some conspiracy by a government, religion, etc., be assured that dualism and fear are the tool to control.

Again, dualism is not bad - its a game.
Question is if you know its a game.

Wanted to add, this is not to convince you of anything, etc.
There are not beliefs to add in order to find peace. (Which I assume you are seeking if you are in fear of government tracking you, etc.)
In fact the opposite if the case - when you find peace it will be because beliefs drop off, and then life, (which is the dancer), begins to move through you fluidly (as you are the dance.)

16, Self-righteous know-it-all, thinks he has society and the secret of life figured out, zero threat

41, Wants to be a cop, can't make the cut so he became an ATS moderator, zero threat

26, Failed journalist, became a blogger instead and now has small following of delusional fans, zero threat

35, Obscure C-list celebrity, uttered the letters A, T, and S in the same paragraph on TV and is now welcomed and applauded as a member even though they never make a single post, zero threat.

29, Evangelical Christian, thought she heard Jesus in her Rice Krispies and now gets online every day after 2 o'clock prayer and tries to debate physics with real scientists, zero threat.

Hmm.. sorry for that, most of this post was just padding because apparently we aren't allowed to sum our thoughts up in one sentence around here.

It's the same what about I'm talking. But every info has value, even if you not consider it as a value at all. Info has greater value then any military or oil itself. Info, be it personal or corporal may destroy or even able to give advantage to nations, able to determine battles even without that one would start.

But if you don't need to hide anything, you don't need to worry about at all. As I said before, if they're knocking on your door by some reason, invite them for milk and cookies and make a great chit-chat with them. My family has some friends in some of the agencies. They're good people and they love their job.

They're monitoring people, you can be sure in this. It's their job after all. You can't blame them. They've being paid for this job, they're living from this to give food for their families and even, in many circumstances they're using the gathered info to defend the country. But honestly... are they monitoring me? Who knows? Maybe yes, maybe not. Even if yes, honestly, I don't really care about it. I'm wishing them a great day on this way. Well. They're doing their job. Good for them. At least someone does.

But as you said too, people don't have to make a fear mongering, because Feds are not going to make anything against you, if you're not a threat. Honestly, I didn't see anyone at ATS who could be a threat to the government. But still, ATS is a good info source, because it can be considered as a small hub of info, where to every info is flow into the system from every possible country, and it's also documented, many of them with valid sources... and many others are not.

Agency members, personnel are also love these sort of info sources, because there are many things, what some leaders are hiding away from them. With this, they also be able to get the picture about some situation... such as the classified Liberty incident and many other things.

And just to tell you, feds, agents are humans just we're. Many of them are loves paranormal, others likes realism. The wish of knowledge, or to dream about something is human nature. The Government is not kicking this out from you in Langley or Quantico. Agents are also have dreams, they love to go to a party, discover the unknown, they have friends, they love to make great sightseeing, they also have daily problems like everyone else.

I personally would love to see the stats on that (for obvious reasons)... though I know its confidential... maybe there is a way just to do it by numbers like Thread 'X' had 2034 'official' hits this weekend

No offense meant by this but I am sure that if they are concerned about something it would be people with specific inside knowledge of certain classified or sensitive areas, not because someone thinks they see a skull on mars. For example DigiGirls aviation posts as she is a contractor for a military company, airline personnel such as myself who could accidentally let security stuff slip into common knowledge, people tracking troop movements, someone posting personal information about LEO’s, recent ex-military personnel, etc. Stuff which creates a national or homeland security breach that puts civilians or military personnel at risk.

Hypothetical: An unsuspecting member sees lights from an unidentifiable craft land near an army base near his house. He posts pics and a description on ATS. For whatever reason the army decides to keep this incident secret. Can they track the poster and how?

Many military bases are marked that photography on the facility, or photography from outside the fence line, are restricted. If you posted something like that, of a sensitive nature, you could potentially be tracked down and prosecuted. I would assume that they would only pursue it if you got a shot of something really sensitive, such as a stealth bomber taking off, or top secret test vehicle. Believe it or not, for awhile after 911, it was even illegal to photograph normal Airports, Ports, and Trains for fear of someone tracking the security patrols or HAZMAT shipments.

There is one of our members "old man", (by the way thanks "old man" for inadvertently answering my question) who runs what must be a widget in his signature that shows my ip, isp, computer and browser type.
As he says: "It's gettin' harder to know who you can trust these days... "

I don't because:

A) I'm not doing anything illegal
B) I am but a little fish.
C) I am not disclosing sensitive material

To believe that the government would want to tracks us all is tantamount to dillusions of grandeur... and somewhat paranoid. Half the stuff you read on this site is all poppycock anyhow, and probably gives them something to laugh about over morning tea!

I bet the Government might actually try to charge one of them with building an "Cold-FusionLaser Do-itYourself-type!" or a nab one with "How to blow up bottles with dry ICE OMG!!1!" or "I'm Buying A Gun Wo0T! - Guess What Kind?!"

what about if you were Muslim and talked about how even with all the airline security precautions -your shoe lace could still be used TO KILL
