Even though this thread is no longer active, it still has a lot of educational value. I for one will use this thread to teach my younger generation.
Everyone's posts are still here, you can learn about people who willingly promote prejudices, oppression, misinformation, hatemonging,
misrepresentation and lies. Once you recognise these people, you will be able to guard against them.
I have said this before and I will say this again, religion doesn't guarantee all its followers to be good. Being good is down to the individual.
There will always be bad apples around, just as there will be good Christians, Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, Jews and others. The sooner you realised
that, the sooner you will understand how the world really works. Only then will we be able to live in peace and harmony. Let us not be pretentious by
creating unnecessary chaos and mistrust. For some, let life run it's course, for others, let God judge.

These kind of threads pop up over and over again, particularly in attacks on religion, any religion, not just Christianity or Buddhism. I'll bet
there is not a group or organization on the planet that hasn't had a predator of some sort in it.
Most religions are interested in life on this planet only insofar as it has a bearing upon what happens after death, which is not to say that
religious agendas can't be hijacked or diverted by worldly people.
As an aside I think it comes as a surprise to many Christians, Jews and Muslims that sexuality in Buddhism is not quite the explosive issue that it is
for them, although things definitely heat up when it comes to issues of marriage!!!!. But that's another story.

and i never said that the inquisition is a product of christian teaching...though one could look at the old testament and see justification for it,
there isn't a necessary link, but there is a possible one.
i did, however, state that the general concept of religion causes things like the inquisition, regardless of beliefs....so this somewhat enforces my
point
and the inquisition isn't "ancient history"
and, funnily enough, in india there are christians that are forcing the religion by the sword...soo....yeah

This is ridiculously ignorant. Buddhism makes up less than 3% of the population in India COMBINED with Jainism and Sikhism. How is that a forced
religion?

what buddhists actually do in terms of the protection of all livings because you only protect the collection plate! none of the activities that were

Oh great the thread that was created purely to spite me and my beliefs.. by a (now banned several times) alter ego that was created
purely to spite me gets bumped yet again.
Could mods please send this thread to the trash can? (or at least lock it?) Through this thread alone that banned member "rileytardel"
continues to maintain a presence here when he deserves none and given the amount of crap I and others copped (this and a flood of porn on our
profiles) I don't think it's too much to ask.
He also created this after he'd been banned under another name (the IP numbers matched) so by rights this thread should never have existed
anyway.
(Sorry mozzy I know you may not be aware of what went on)

This thread is why I have to find somewhere else to post. I know longer feel welcome by ATS staff.
The member who created it has been here SIX TIMES under different aliases posting porn and trolling. This thread was created after he'd been
banned already PURELY to attack me, it's a slap in the face every time it gets bumped so I of course asked to have it closed.. the decision was
no:
"Not appropriate at this time." (the brush off)
Why? The timing is right for me and I think it's a very reasonable request given he was ALLOWED to rejoin in order to harrass people. I cannot
feel comfortable here as it's no longer "safe" to do so as I have had NO guarentees he won't rejoin. I have seen threads closed for ALOT less..
and those threads are not even started by banned members. So.. If you are a banned member remember.. you can come back at any time and post a thread,
get re-banned but your thread will remain open and wil be defended by admin. How nice for you. You could even post as an anon and bump your old faves
to annoy your foes.. but I know you have already realised that one. 
I have been a (well mostly law abiding  ) member for four years or so but it seems after all this time admin have opted to choose a banned members
biggoted thread over a regulars participation. Why? because it's controvercial and pisses buddhists off.. makes for lots of views. I think there is a
rule about political baiting but don't want to ruin a good thing..
I'm posting this for transparency so this isn't behind closed doors. I would accept their decision quietly if it were fair but it is clearly
not.. as far as I can see they're putting the rights of a banned member before my own. If that member is allowed to have his opinions bumped up on
this thread.. surely it's only fair that I use it to voice my own as well?
If anyone knows where MM is let me know.

I've been told by a mod to unsubscribe if I don't like it but I also check "recent posts" so can't really escape it anyway.. and I didn't troll
and post porn so why should I be punnished? the "Just ignore it" is a copout given threads can be so easily locked.. I feel like they're
deliberately not closing it. I don't see that its going to harm the overall "deny ignorance" goal. If people don't get to read this all thats
going to happen is less buddhists get offended and I'll stop winging about it.

the doppelganger is probably one and the same and I believe still has active accounts (just read through this thread). Perhaps they can't ban the IP
but I know they can check them against eachother. Ideally when someone joins their IP should be checked against banned members IP numbers. Waiting for
them to post porn in profiles seems a tad impractical.

I'll stand as a witness to the Buddha's enlightenment. I have definitely seen the light of truth.

Thought this should be re-iterated.
Could people PLEASE not reply to this thread? better still.. read back a few pages.. see whats been going on and ask mods for it to be locked? It was
never about the "perverion of buddhism".. it was about attacking me (and offending buddhists). ATS should not be used as a platform by trolls
to make personal attacks.. this entire thread was one and "rileytardel" who incidentally later got found out to be a banned member and also started
posting very graphic porn in our profiles. I left for several months because of this thread as it gives him/her/them the option of stirring things up
again just by bumping it or getting someone oblivious to bump it for them.
So PLEASE ask admin to LOCK THIS THREAD.. what do I have to have a telethon or something? Obviously they won't do it if I ask.
