Favorite aircraft?

Now im sure this has been done, but maybe it would be nice to have an updated thread on this.

I; while here on ATS have noticed many threads on someone's favorite aircraft and people would give their own opinion, but now lets have everyone's opinion on their own fav jet.

Personally any aircraft that can perform the Cobra manuever, would be my favorite aircraft, but i like the Su-37 not the S-37a, the Su-37.

Sure it is Russian, but you have to admit it does tend to counter some of our best aircraft.

Hmm mine would be lets see... the A-10

My faverouite aircraft is the Gruman F14 Tomcat

Mine's a plain ol' (UH-1H) Huey. But then again I am somewhat sentimental.

my favorite plane is the X-32 stelth plane

For me it all boils down to cold war platforms, but seeing as the sheer number of platforms to choose from are too good to narrow to one I decided on two.

Representing the West and with a stellar unblemished combat record is our favorite CAP aircraft the F-15



And coming out of the East Block is the formidable Mig-29, built by the same people who brought you such fine aircraft as the Mig 21 and 25.

The 29 is a tale of tragedy, overshadowed by the powerful Su-37, the 29 is a perfect answer to our F-16

of course the A-10!!

I once recognized it by it's sound I already knew it was an A-10 before I could even see it.
There are A-10's stationed in west germany, I was on vacation in the area.

It's so hard for me to choose. There are so many great planes out there, but one that I always find to be an amazing aircraft is the Avro Arrow. Maybe it's because i'm Canadian and that makes me a little biased But that jet seriously had soo much potencial.

It was defiantely amazing for it's time thats for sure, just to list off some things it did...

-First a/c to fly with fly by wire AND artificial feedback (feel). Not even the first F-16's had this.

-First a/c designed with digital computers being used for both aerodynamic analysis and designing the structural matrix (and a whole lot more).

-First a/c designed to be data-link flyable from the ground.

-First a/c designed with integrated navigation, weapons release, automatic search and track radar, datalink inputs, home-on-jamming, infrared detection, electronic countermeasures and counter-countermeasures operating through a DIGITAL brain.

-First high wing jet fighter that made the entire upper surface a lifting body. The F-15, F-22, Su-27 etc., MiG-29, MiG 25 and others certainly used that idea.

Now I think that's pretty incredible for being made in the 1950's. I just wish some one would build a time machine so I could go back in time and kick Diefenbaker's ass. I only just wonder what things would be like if it wasn't canned.

nah i agree withthe other people. A10s are my favourite planes.everyone says theyre ugly but i think they look well nice.also the GAU-8 Avenger on the nose is kinda cool.and also the cool bared tooth nose art.theyre properly cool planes.but English Electric Lightnings are good.they were excellent in their day and looked amazing.anyone who has seen and touched one will know that they have an aura.theyre (for me) on a level with the A10

B-2 baby....Its all about the B-2
and maybe a lil' SR-71 - Mach 3.2 (official) in the 1960's!!

oh oh - and yeah, sporting an unblemished record of 101 kills, with zero losses, the undefeated A2A combat champion of the wooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrlllllllllllddddddd the F-15 EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd have to agree that the B-2 is just simply awesome. I love it when they fly over stadiums at like football games. Really really awesome when they flew over RFK stadium in DC a while ago when I was at a redskin game.

I don't know why, I just love F-22 for some reason from its first sight

A10 is probably my all around favorite.

But, I'll always love the planes from WW II, such as the mustang, spitfire, etc.

I would just love to see a bunch of C-5 galaxies in flight with like 12 Raptor and escorts and all of a sudden seeing 12 Su-37's intercept them.
