The simple fact is that it would be unconstitutional for them to pass a law requiring teachers to teach creationism, intelligent design, etc. It's
been through the courts plenty of times, and every time its come up unconstitutional.

A good point to note is that 99.85% of scientists in related fields (i.e. biologists and geologists) disagree with its claims, and it is generally considered to be pseudoscience.
