No, X doesnt stand for 10, it stands for unknown.

therefore its actually impossible to discover planet X, since once you discovered it it isnt unknown anymore.

Let me try to clear things up on this little missunderstanding that is so common in all these Planet X/Nibiru threads.

Planet X is an unknown planet, Nibiru is an unknown (propably fictional) planet. So while Nibiru would qualify as a Planet X, the concept of a Planet X encompasses many more objects. got it? while Nibiru would be *a* planet X, not all possible Planet Xes would be Nibiru.

An analogy: Aliens visiting Earth would be astronauts. Humans going into space are astronauts. So if Nasa says "the astronauts returned savely with the spacshuttle" it must mean that there were aliens abord besides the human crew. Its the same logic as claiming nibiru was found because some scientist used the term Planet X. And it is quite obviously wrong.

Oh my god. Just to make sure, you guys know why they called it Planet X right?

"The "X" in the name represents an unknown and is pronounced as the letter, as opposed to the Roman numeral for ten."

en.wikipedia.org...

It is not the planet X conspiracy. This is what we call a plutoid.

im sorry but EVERYWHERE i read on this subject BUT ATS says that the X stands for 10 because when this theory was alive and kicking really hard a few years ago (before they weren;t calling pluto a planet anymore) we had 9 planets and nibiru was thought of as Planet X, or the 10th planet in our solar system

im sorry, but i have been in on this stuff for more than a few day/weeks/months.

my research started around the first time they said it was going to disturb eart, and back then we had 9 planets and nibiru was the 10th. look it up, just because X= unkown factor in math doesn't mean that carries over. your post actually makes very little logical sense IMO.

im not here to argue semantics though. so carry on.

no problem bro,,

on may 23rd a comet ... from the south ... hit the sun and created a solar CME (coronal mass ejection)

there was a discussion goin on on a
different thread..

this dude had spotted nibiru in the pictures..
i couldn't see it..

there were a few videos..

don't know if they still work but if you
follow this link there is one picture i know of.

happy researchin

btw--

a week or more before that again if you are interested in searching it up
i'm sure there was a double strike on the sun.. two comets coming up from a
southern direction ..

Well i did a bag load of research for a thread I created called the Nibiru Myth. I used both pro planet x and planet x myth sites to create the thread and not once did I find anything indicating that the "x" stood for 10.

And you claim that everywhere you read about it, it says "x" stands for 10, yet you haven't provided anything to back up your claims

I agree with SRTkid86 and Trams in that "Planet X" has Nothing to do with any Nibiru myth, fact of fiction.
It is important to point out, as Trams did, that planet X is an early 20th century theory about an unknown planet that disturbs the orbits of Neptune and then Pluto, after Pluto was discovered in 1930. Plant X has later come to mean "Tenth planet" but it still originates as X for unknown.
For those that have read about the Nibiru myth should know that the planet Nibiru is said to be the 12th planet, the Sun and our Moon count as number 10 and 11. Nibiru is said to be a planet with moons and NOT a star-neither brown nor dwarfed.

So the list of theories goes on; Planet X, Nibiru, 2012, Brown dwarf or Dark star binary stellar orbit... All of these are DIFFERENT theories or myths. Add doomsday to top it off and people seem to flock to it. Anything that is of value to be learned from these theories or myths are lost in the doomsday rhetoric. Truth is far more interesting and complicated then fiction and I find it very odd and a bit disturbing that some find comfort in a fanciful theory that we are all going to die in a world wide cataclysm.

When I see someone mixing up these different theories and myths and then adding doomsday it is a sure sign that they do not know what they're talking about IMO, ie hoaxer or liar.

How many Planet X's is that now? I've lost count of the candidates that have come & gone... and amounted to nothing!

It appears to me like another opportunity for people to desperately try and prove a flagging hypothesis.

I guess if every large 'body' in space gets called Planet X, eventually (though it may take a few thousand years) you will be correct. Just keep playing the odds peeps!

I am getting very sick and tired of misleading thread titles. Can the OP please change it ? No new planet has been discovered yet, so why create a thread with the title "Planet X spotted beyond Pluto" ?

valid point Oz

to the best of my knowledge the "X" repesents just that "X(unknown quantity or factor ie "un-named yet")

peace all

dz
nowhere have i encountered it meaning "10"

and this one just in..
and world wide severe storms be the result of a comet that passed the sun a few days ago ??? it appears that this very well could be the case ... once again ... a COMET FROM THE SOUTH ... grazed the sun on june 16th and the sun reverberated with multiple shock waves (mini CMEs) and then went into a streaming mode which continues at this time

find source of the release here..

haven't seen any pictures or movies of the comet yet..

these comets from the south are really commin fast and furious..

Comets in orbit around the Sun have absolutely no effect on Earth's climate unless they actually impact our planet. Any website that claims otherwise is a pointless waste of internet bandwidth.

did i say it was in orbit,,
silly me..
i must have been..

if the object were in a stable orbit then i believe what you say would be true as i think i understand things

unless they actually impact our planet.

if one of those things hit us then climate would be least of our worries..

Any comet that "passes" the Sun is in orbit around it. Thousands of comets have "passed" the Sun throughout recorded history, and there is no evidence that they affected the Earth's climate.

I apologise for the somewhat critical tone of my responses. This place gets to me sometimes.

no problem,
in a way i expect responses of all sorts here..

as for comets i dig what you say about comets and climate..
but there is building evidence of the fact that when heavenly bodys
electrically align with each other they can sometimes drive storm systems..

i do believe that most comets are in orbit around the sun
but i also believe there are objects that just pass once through our system never to return.. i mean there is a lot of stuff floating about out there..

First there's 9 planets then there's 10, then 9, then I read 8....

I've pretty much lost all respect for astronomers. All you have to do is look through a humongous telescope and tell us what you see. I don't know, but that doesn't seem so hard to me. You'd think they would have at least learned to count with all the classes they had to take.

Guess not...

I suspect it's more like, how many are we going to tell the public about...

As with all theories, yours included, there are no absolutes. Absolutes contradict their respective theories by definition, "Absolute. Perfect in quality or nature; complete. Not to be doubted or questioned; positive: absolute proof." Source Answers.com

Since we do not know what comets are exactly, where they originally came from and how they truly effect the planets it would be incorrect to state that they "have absolutely no effect on Earth's climate" by either impacting the Sun or any other planet in our solar system, ours excluded. It is believed that they have no effect on the Earth but I strongly feel this should be questioned.

Let's take a closer look at this. All orbits are said to be elliptical to some degree, none are perfectly circular or e=0. Eccentricity of less then 1 is elliptical, 1 is a parabola and greater then 1 is a hyperbola. So an eccentricity of 1 or greater is not an orbit, it is just passing by or, in other words, has escape velocity. But I don't think this has been proven with comets passing by our Sun since it would be difficult to witness such an event and then show proof.
