Here's my hypothetical:

Forget McCain, he's just a here to keep the seat warm for a while.

Step 1
There's some speculation McCain isn't eligible for the Presidency, since he was born in the Panama Canal Zone. Some sort of resolution--an amendment, perhaps?--will be passed to make it clear once and for all that you do not have to be born in the United States, but need to be at least a naturalized citizen and have lived in the U.S. a certain amount of time... 14 years? Maybe 20 years for good measure?

Mr. McCain’s likely nomination as the Republican candidate for president and the happenstance of his birth in the Panama Canal Zone in 1936 are reviving a musty debate that has surfaced periodically since the founders first set quill to parchment and declared that only a “natural-born citizen” can hold the nation’s highest office.

McCain’s Canal Zone Birth Prompts Queries About Whether That Rules Him Out

Step2
McCain gives up his Presidential bid due to health concerns that, while downplayed now, become serious in the next month or so.

The doctors described a number of health issues faced by McCain, many of them typical for a man of his age but at least one of them potentially serious.

McCain in 'excellent health,' doctor says

Step3
With McCain gone, the Republicans have a spot to fill, and fast! With McCain never officially announcing a running mate, it seems too large of a battle for the party. But wait! We've got a match made in heaven, and they've already packed their bags for the White House.

And they've both been talked up as centrist Presidential candidates — Bloomberg in 2008, even though he says he's not running, and Schwarzenegger someday in the future, even though the Constitution currently prohibits immigrants from running.

The New Action Heroes

So we get 4 years of Bloomberg, who is then too old to be President and steps down. Finally, after so long, Ah-nold becomes the President of the United States.

So many ATSers think Arnold is a NAZI and Bush-buddy that this makes sense, if you believe the powers that be are hammering the last few nails into the coffin that is the NWO. Those last nails are the hardest, with the most resistance from the citizens INSIDE the coffin. The powers need someone strong, with big, bulging biceps.

I thought that Schwarzenegger can not run for POTUS because of his being born an Austrian citizen. I would assume the same applies to VP.

You're right. The XII Amendment provides that the same qualifications for President apply to the VP. Arnie can't run for VP unless the XII Amendment is changed.
