A 14-year-old Sikh girl is asking the High Court to rule that she was the victim of unlawful discrimination when a school banned her from wearing a bracelet as a symbol of faith.

The school, at which Ms Singh was the only Sikh, does not permit jewellery other than wrist watches and plain ear studs.

This is how it is for all schools, why change the rules.

This is confusing to me. We allow Muslims to have special considerations due to their religion, enough to make me think it is over the line. Why is wearing a bracelet of faith so bad?

I'm curious if it is a religious requirement or just a personal religious statement. The former should be covered in her favor by our freedom of religion, but the latter, while I don't see why she should be banned from wearing the bracelet, might not afford her as much legal protection.

They accept the rules of the school pre admission, once in try to change it.
