Israel-Hamas Truce To Begin Thursday: Report

Israel and the radical Islamic group Hamas have agreed on a truce to begin Thursday, Egypt's state-owned news agency said Tuesday.

Sami Abu Zuhri, a Hamas spokesman, said the group is committed to the truce deal. Israeli officials declined to confirm a deal, but said Israel's negotiator in the truce talks was rushing to Cairo and that they were "cautiously optimistic."

This is big news if it is true. I really do not know what to say other than less violence in the Middle East would be a wonderful thing. Somehow the prospect of a group like Hamas actually agreeing to a truce with Israel seems hard to swallow, but I will keep my fingers crossed!

Haven't they agreed to a truce before? Only to fall back into violence and oppression....

If we see Israel stop expanding settlements and Hamas stop the suicide bombings for one earth year I might actually begin to believe it..
