Family-Friendly Sex Store Opens in New York City

www.foxnews.com

Unlike the older sex shops, which are dark and dingy, the Babeland store has upbeat music, well-dressed saleswomen and infant changing tables — marketing itself as a fun place for couples to shop. It's part of a growing trend that has been spreading from Louisville to Los Angeles in an attempt to take the sleaze out of this part of the sex industry.

I don't even know what to think about this...

Well heres what i think.

Whats going to happen when the pornoghapic becomes the norm? Is the Truth going to become pronographic?

I think this is a great idea. Too many people are ashamed to go into many sex shops because of the way they look, or the stigma attached to them. Sadly, many couples NEED such tools to keep their sex life viable, and this is a step in the right direction. Sex is natural, and maybe by this shop getting more attention, it will also help with promoting a message of safer sex practices.

We really need to get rid of the sleazy image that many sex shops have acquired in the past. Kudos to a shop trying to make a difference, changing the image into a more acceptable and welcomed atmosphere. This will make it much easier for couples to enjoy their sex lives without worrying about being thought of as something negative.

As for how this may pertain to the younger generation, it also is positive. I would much rather have a young lady experimenting with her sexuality though the use of certain devices instead of having sex with her peers. Hopefully they can learn about their bodies without having to risk the chance of having an unwanted child because they wanted to experiment. Again, I think this is a step in the right direction and hopefully its image stays positive and helpful.

I agree.

I think this is a great idea and look forward to shopping there when one comes to my area. This is a wonderful way to teach the next generation that sex is something that requires responsibility, but not shame or fear.

Well, I have NO issues with these types of sex shops.

I have been in some super classy (nice) ones in WDC (Georgetown) that just sold PRODUCTS.....

and have passed by some super sleazy ones in WDC/Baltimore that sell products and have booths and viewing rooms - gross

Ive also been to some famed ones in LA/Hollywood....that were "nice"

However, I have never EVER been in one that I thought was appropriate for children to be in (family friendly?). I am not a prude, have no issues with these things or nudity....but children do not need to be brought into sex shops. No way.

I would also NOT want the sleazy ones in regular shopping centers due to some of the clientele they bring in.

I agree about the child part, although I think they should let in young ladies who are entering high school and will most likely feel the most pressure about such a situation. If its an adult only store, then it wouldn't be stopping anything , just leaving young ladies to be even more curious about sex if its something that you can only learn about when you are over eighteen. If that makes sense, lol

I guess you probably didn't think this one through. What do you think is going to happen if young 9th grade girls are going into sex shops? You think maybe the place would be crawling with older men?

I have a daughter going into high school. Seriously, she doesn't need to be going into sex shops.

My god... what is the world coming to....

How can this be a good thing, i mean realy.

How can it be a good thing to make porn and sex toys a everyday thing.

What, your supposed to teach you kids about this? In bettwen going to the store to get some milk, and taking the kid to karate, you stop by the sex shop for a new strap on? Then take your 8 year old daughter in so she can pick out a toy to experiment with?

You know why there is a 'stigma' attached to sex shops? Casue they are sex shops! Its not a candy store, or a place for children. ITS A SEX SHOP!. This is a dirty, and personal buisness.

What, the tools god gave you arent good enough? Now you have to go buy some plastic to get your rocks off? And you wonder why it feels dirty? IT IS DIRTY! You normalise something like this and you don't know what the ramifications are. Our society today AS IT IS, is sick enough.

Also, please explain to me how teaching kids about sex toys is explaining the idea of sexual resonsiblity to them? I think getting an orgasim, and natural relationships are completly diffrent. You try to explain these things to an 8 year old, you will destroy them for life.

I am not trying to be a prude, but i guess thats what im going to be if i use my brain rather then my (blank).

If we, as a society, continue down this road of deviance, there is no telling what this world will be like. Where porno is the mainstraim, and the truth is dirty.

I can see it now, guys in the back ally, selling truth out of thier cars. You cannot have truth in the light, people might stare, people might be offended. The truth becomes dirty, in a devient society.
