This is the latest in Obama's plans to take money from your pocket and put it into the pockets of the people Obama things should have it:

He also vowed to spend $150 billion over 10 years to establish a "green energy sector." It would require greater fuel efficiency in cars and devote more money to solar, wind, and biodiesel energy.

Are we really to the point where we want the federal government establishing "sectors" of the economy by taking your money and giving it to companies Obama thinks should have it?

The underlying implication of Obama's policy is that people are too dumb to know where to invest their own money, and that the government will invest it for them into the companies and technologies the government deems worthy.

Here's a thought. Left to make their own choices in what to do with their money, people will somehow figure out which promising technologies they should invest in. This will FORCE companies to compete for investment dollars rather than have alternative energy companies be handed money simply because they've courted political favors with government bureaucrats.

$150 billion? Pfft, a pittance. Get it from the trillions the gov't currently give to the MIC, Ie: Halliburton et al.

we're already at that point

How much money is given to oil, airlines, and banks?

Atleast if he's giving money away to different types of energy, we can all start reaping the benefits.

My health insurance was just cancled and BCBS won't give me a straight answer as to why.

National health insurance; call it socialism if you want, but this is a single button issue for me.

How about the taxdollars that are sent down a rat hole by black projects that the American taxpayer is denied any knowledge of.

Keep trying jamie83.

This is an interesting pattern I see emerging over and over with people who support Obama's plans to socialize the economy even more.

Rather than address the point raised, a false comparison is made with other poor policies.

And combine this false comparison with an exaggerated claims of trillions going to Halliburton et al. This doesn't address the point in question.

Do we really need the federal government to take our money at gun point and invest it in sectors and specific companies that the government mandates worthy of investment?

Even in theory this plan is problematic. However, in practice, considering Obama's ties to private equity managers like George Soros, I can't imagine the process of redistributing $150 billion will be without political favoritisms. I.e., Obama = same old politics, not change.

This is what I'm getting tired of. No Sources! :shk: HELLO!?!?!?! Jamie!?!?!?

I think this is a great idea! One of Obama's best! It's about time we do something about our dependency on oil!

Yay!

You want me to talk about an interesting pattern I see?
Jamie, get a grip, hon.
Start adding sources and really, your fear of Obama becoming our next president is really unattractive.

Ya know whats hilarious about jamie83?

He hates obama
he loves McCain

but he hates Obama for doing the same things he loves McCain for.

And then tries to justify it by saying "Obama is another politician"

no kidding he's a politiican - just - like - McCain.

If you wish to sling mud - then please - by all means - sling mud, but dont call it debate.
its nothing short of gossiping in the hen house

If you want to discuss ISSUES - then you have to take the good with the bad. You cant say you dont like Obama because he wants to tell businesses what to do

Because McCain wants to do the same dang thing

Im not telling you to vote obama
im telling you to make up your own mind on who to vote for based on the facts
not based on what you hear from Fox News

Sorry about forgetting the link to the source!

Link to the source I forgot to put in the original post

So is it your opinion that a central government should be responsible for directing the capital investments into the specific sectors that it deems appropriate?

What is your obsession with me? Why not try discussing the topic instead of me??

See above. I'm not sure why you've become obsessed with discussing me.

If you want to discuss ISSUES - then you have to take the good with the bad.

It's kind of ironic that you do nothing but discuss me personally, fail to discuss the topic of this thread, and then tell me I should be discussing issues. Maybe you should make a new thread just to discuss me.

You cant say you dont like Obama because he wants to tell businesses what to do

Uh yeah, I can dislike Obama's proposed policies because the overall attitude that Obama has continually displayed is the typical liberal mindset that the central government knows what's better for the people than the people do. Obama's policies are MUCH more inclined towards having Obama decide what's best for everybody. I think he honestly believes that's the role of the government.

not based on what you hear from Fox News

What's this obsession you have with Fox News, and you're repeated false implications that somehow I watch Fox News?? I NEVER watch Fox News, and barely watch tv news at all.
