I would recommend not even clicking the "X".....tricky programming can make that "X" respond totally different from the standard result, which is of course, closing the window, as we expect it to be. But it can often be used to continue the process. (wow, what a bad sentence this was....kinda' embarassing)

If the window is in the forefront of your Desktop.....hold ALT and click F4. That combination will shut down the current active window.
