Hicks conviction in question - lawyer (Former Gitmo 'Terrorist')

DAVID Hicks's conviction for supporting terrorism may be invalided by a US Supreme Court ruling overnight, his Adelaide lawyer says.

That law said Guantanamo prisoners were not entitled to habeas corpus rights, central to US law since the country was founded.

Hicks's lawyer David McLeod said today the ruling was a "step in the right direction" for his client, who did not have the right to make a challenge himself.

Well, well, well... We all knew it and now it might be proven in a la court. David Hicks was kept in Gitmo for around six years, without many rights.

He was the first and only detainee from Gitmo who was convicted after a plea bargain in 207.

Hopefully, there will now be the presumption of innocent until proven guilty
