The period 900 - 1200 AD has been called the Little Climatic Optimum. It represents the warmest climate since the Climatic Optimum. During this period, the Vikings established settlements on Greenland and Iceland. The snow line in the Rocky Mountains was about 370 meters above current levels. A period of cool and more extreme weather followed the Little Climatic Optimum. A great drought in the American southwest occurred between 1276 and 1299. There are records of floods, great droughts and extreme seasonal climate fluctuations up to the 1400s.

If this was the "perfect" weather the planet isn't back there yet. This was perfect weather in europe, what about the rest of the planet?

It was "significantly drier than today" in Africa

Not sure living folk down there would call that 'perfect'!

If you really look at the site provided, the "best" weather timeline was 1-2 deg C warmer that today. So how is any current warming "bad"?

One has to wonder when this recent "perfect" weather period happened, the 60's? Perhaps drug induced memories of the flower children?

No one asks when the best weather was, that GW seems to be destroying.........

Your thread title hurts plucky's brain...

So you are saying global warming started then or is changing that era or those changes are only affecting that time period? Plucky is confused!

You could say there is no perfect climate. But from a farming point of view warmer is better... longer growing season. Less heating requirements for the family home etc.

Now now...lets not be rude about those who choose the path of the cardigan and the sandal .

"Global Warming Enthusiasts" is a much nicer term

How about Global warming "phobics" that's pretty accurate. A movement based on abject "fear" of something not provable other than through selective subjective analysis of observed data over a very short timeframe.

The optimal weather period was approx 2000 years ago and was 2 deg C warmer than today.
