If only one parent was a U.S. citizen at the time of your birth, that parent must have resided in the United States for at least ten years, at least five of which had to be after the age of 16. There are no conditions placed on retaining this type of citizenship.

There is no reason to think that Obama's mother didn't meet this qualification. Even if she traveled to Kenya and had him while she was there (which there is no reason to suspect), she was still a resident of the US.


Now all this could be cleared up by simply providing the document in question to the media... There's no privacy issue... So what is the issue for Barry... Errr... Barack Hussein Obama?


Yes, this would all be cleared up by turning over his papers to the media. If he chooses to. But what do you mean there is no privacy issue? Doesn't Barry have the same rights to privacy that the rest of us do?

Surely he must prove to the State Department that he is eligible to run for President. But he is under no obligation to show the world, or even the citizens or the US, his birth certificate. At this point, it may be a matter of principle. It's not like the people who are demanding this paper are going to change their minds about hating him and vote for him. So why should he if he doesn't have to?

This is an interesting write up about Obama's mother's life in the Chicago Tribune. Maybe you guys can find some interesting little tidbit in there and start a rumor of your very own!

No, he doesn't.

When running for POTUS, EVERYTHING about a person is vetted. People have a right to know everything about the person before casting their vote. Different things are important to different people. The people have a right to have all information they deem necessary before casting their votes. What seems unimportant or stupid to you and me, will be important to someone else. And they have a right to feel it's important.

A potential POTUS definately does NOT have the same privacy rights we ordinary citizens have.

Very true. I said that on page one.

So why should he if he doesn't have to?

- Votes.
- Because Mr. Change is supposedly running an open and honest campaign.
- To put this all to rest.
- To provide answers to questions that the American people have.

Hey ... Cindy McCain was under no obligation to release her financial papers. She and John McCain have separate finances and have had separate finances for their entire married lives. At first she said she wouldn't release them because they were a non-issue. But then she changed her mind and went ahead and released them even though she has a right to privacy and she didn't have to.

Know why?

- Votes.
- To run an open and honest campaign.
- To put this all to rest.
- To provide answers to questions that the American people have.

Obama should do the same. It's just a freak'n piece of paper. Release it.

I can't help but think that somebody wants us to discuss the birth certificate instead of some other issue that may be more important.

My credibility is just fine, thank you for your concern.

The facts stated at those sites are credible. You don't want to accept that? Fine. Don't. But the FACT is that Obama is not 1/2 black. His fathers ancestory goes back to Arab lands. Arab SLAVE TRADING lands. Personally I don't care what the hell color his skin is ... but those are just the facts.

As for the rest of your post .... again, you are welcome to believe what you wish. But the FACT is that someone running for POTUS has to be more open and more forthcoming with information then the rest of us. I NEVER had to disclose my tax information or medical information to get a job. But the potential POTUS has. It's just part of showing the American people who you are and helping them to decide if they want you to represent them. Same goes for college papers and birth certificates. Bush43 and Kerry both released their college grades. They didn't HAVE to, but it was part of the process to let the American people know who they are and help the American people decide if they wanted Bush or Kerry to represent them. (Bush had a C+ average and Kerry had a C average).

BH ... believe what you wish. The REALITY is ... people want to see it and he needs to release it in order to gain votes for POTUS. If he doesn't release it, which is his right, it only hurts himself. (and verifies that he is NOT transparent and is just like the rest of the politicians he claims he is different from)

and no ... I"ll never vote for him. He's a liar, a racist, and a criminal. He offers NO change. NO hope. and definately NO unity. However, there are those who will feel more comfortable with him upon seeing his BC .... so it's to those people he should be releasing his birth certificate.

This is all part of that 'transparency' and hope/change rhetoric that he keeps blathering.


So Obama - WHERE'S THAT DARN BIRTH CERTIFICATE????

My understanding of the law is that the President must be a natural born citizen of the U.S.

This would mean that he would not be eligible to be a candidate for President. After expending all that money to be president, it looks like he's scrambling to make sure no one knows that he's not eligible, since his mother was 18 when he was born.
