Real meaning of "The Pledge Of Allegiance"

I have great affection for one of our last true media 'clowns', and have great respect for the person he was.

But sadly, although I believe in God, I cannot in fair conscious agree that the words "under God" do NOT represent a prayer, and allusion to a belief common to the "All" so eloquently addressed within the pledge. The words don't belong there unless this country is to openly change it's nature to that of a nation which rejects and excludes those who don't believe in God.

It almost breaks my heart to see those words disappear, but my beliefs belong in me, not in a pledge of solidarity to my country.

I personally think its brainwashing to make children who can't even understand the words pledge thier allegiance to the flag and country.

Then yes theres the whole God aspect as well.
