It seems Bush and Cheney are trying to force through a deal that would allow a permanent U.S. presence in Iraq with the U.S. operating out of 50 bases, having control or Iraqi air space, and being allowed to arrest or detain anyone. U.S. forces and contractors would be immune to prosecution under Iraqi law. More here:

So America is now taking full control of Iraqi oil basically, sort of like pushing to the front of a que for oil but was this really worth the estimated total casualties of 1,033,000?
