This is pretty interesting. It uses an idea called a "wind belt" to create a small amount of energy. Not enough to run an appliance, but it could be used power some LED's for night time lighting, charge a cellphone or even power a radio (assuming you have some wind of course).

Not sure how useful this would be in a survival situation but I thought I should share it just in case...

I have found that ANY new information can be useful in some way. Already I have found a use for this by adding it to a thought experiment that I have working on.

His model is quite nice and I liked how he thought ahead in size and scale by mentioning a field of these working together.

Given the simplicity and low cost I may have to make one or a few to conduct some experiments when I have the time.

Very nice video..
It's great to see different takes on using natural resources.
As Ahabstar said..for uses in nightlighting,it's very attractive..

Less moving parts than a turbine system..
My idea was to look out for scrap dynamos from pushbikes..Hand made propellors and rig up a chain of LEDS to give a slightly more 'civilised' atmosphere to a 'sit-x' campsite.

These are worth looking into as I think they would give off less noise too
