What's the password maria?
Sorry but we've had some trouble recently with some female treasonous fighters.

Schro, don't make me go old school on your sorry misogynist tail.

Do I even LOOK like a DATS regular?

And don't try giving me those big puppy eyes, either. It only works with my toddler, and even then he's pushing it.

I'll have what maria is having...,

Bird is the word, no?

PS - Did maria ever come back to you with a retort on your maria_stardust is Sarah Palin logic?

You're right.

That treasonous elf fighter got me all defensive.
Please have a seat.

Sublime620,

I have been thinking. Perhaps it would be better form if we practice not calling for responses to Socratic questions in the last post. The opening and closing might be better judged if left sacrosanct.

That way a fighter may not have to sacrifice valuable real estate to answering what might be a difficult question requiring a substantial response. Those 10,000 character limits can be a tough restriction (at least for people like me who just drone on and on....
)

What do you think?

MS, Semper? Comrades?

I always thought that was a sort of a balance to the fact that the first poster can ask SQs in their opening statement, but doesn't have to answer any. Of course, first post is a weak position anyway, since you either have to show your cards or make a short vague statement.

If that's true, then, as Ian pointed out, the first post shouldn't be allowed to have them either (which I would find to be okay).

I don't really mind either way. It was a silly mistake of mine. I could have easily answered the questions and had plenty of room. Of course, by answer them, I mean address them without actually answering anything (politicians are an inspiration).

Also, I just realized that I am a bit disappointed by my lack of pointed SQ's. In the last debate versus semperfortis, I noticed he finds the weakest points in his opponent's arguments, and then just hammers them with SQ's. Every time I saw he was asking one, I wanted to just "x" out the window.

I was supposed to adopt that method, but I forgot.

Let's bake some cookies for DATS.

I think they'll enjoy these.

The debate rules are pretty clear cut. Each party has the opportunity to ask Socratic questions a total of four times. It's a fair system.

Now, whether a fighter chooses to take full advantage of the Socratic questions is up to them.

I'm thinking that you having forgotten was a good thing for me (:lol
!

It was just a passing thought. I suppose tradition isn't worth bucking on this count.

Only four times? I've broken that rule a lot then.

But, yeah, I know they are clear cut, I was just responding to a question posed by Maxmars.

All right folks, the bar is open!

I'm taking drink order and setting out snacks. Let's show those drunkards at DATS how it's done.

I'm ready to go!
