Is it me or is it a conspiracy that the traffic on the streets is getting worse with each passing day?

I'm enjoying this one. Seems to be flowing better than the first two.

Heike, thanks so much for sticking this out with me. After two debates where my opponents disappeared, it was really fun to see one of these things through to the finish.

@Mem - Am I ever, I was adamant that it was 'Hay-ah-key', as I thought my tetutonic husband had pronouced it that way.

I just asked again and he said HI-kay which would still seemingly make both of us wrong once again.

@Heike - Darlin' could you see fit to write out a phonetic spelling one more time? Although I fear it will take me a while to stop calling you Hay-ah-key, I consider it a very good thing that you can't hear me

In German the "ei" sound is pronounced like a long i, as in Mike or high.

The "ie" diphthong is pronounced "ee" as in in reef or meek. Our clinical director is from Holland and her name is Mieke (pronounced Meek-eh), and some of the ever-changing staff have quite a time keeping us straight.

The ending e is correctly pronounced like the e in get or help; however this seems to be rather difficult for most Americans to say, so it has become Hike-ah or Hike-uh.

If you say "hiker" and just kind of leave the r sound off, you've got it.

A final "e" on a German name is generally feminine; the masculine version of my name is Heiko.

Sorry to be a pain guys but could one of the mods please edit my post to correct a coding mistake please?

bizarrely my computer still won't let me type a lowe case Q... had to use the on screen keyboard for it, but a couple got away from me at the start.

Its just the two bits of code which say (without the dots) should instead use lower case Qs instead.
