Excellent post, Super.

It doesn't help that young men seem enamored with choosing avatars that present an attractive, idealized even, women.

What in the world do they think an avatar is?

are male really more open to show they geekier sde?

i apologize, but i doubt it!
my experience tells me differently!

at least i got the idea that men tend to see everything very seriously, maybe because mosst of them have to wear ties in business?

and palpable maleness of ATS? gee could be a nice debate topic!

@supercertari:
it is pretty difficult to judge from avatars and way of posting
but i for myself get it usually right

men tend to post more straight

so you are really not a black eagle?
and heike has changed from a dragon to a human
but what about memory?

schro-dog is a form shifter for sure

it is a great idea to use such stuff like crests if the family has crests etc

An avatar is a computer user's representation of himself/herself or alter ego,

source

so maybe they like to be represented that way?
nothing wrong with that
so if a guy wants to have a more female avy why not - and vice versus!

Morning everyone!

I'll be going a bit slower today as my hands are bruised and sore from assembling a 7 piece dining set last night.

It seems that schrodingers dog has finally switched back to his very first avatar. I remember that avvie.

And I would like to sue him for the problems I had today. In my exams, instead of writing schrodinger's wave equation as the title in the answer I wrote schrodinger's dog equation! Imagine my plight if I had given the answer paper.

Lucky me, I saw that error while checking, otherwise I would have been done for!

Nah. I think yer prof, in fact, would have given you extra credit for willing to be so snarky on an exam.

Everyone and everything can have a crest, I've done a couple for american friends who have some elements from their family names and then the rest from knowing about their personality and such.

I've had a very unbusy noontide so here's one I've done for here - even the ATS debate forum can have one (probably not recognised by any heraldic guild but who cares - let them have at me with their quills!)

darn it! it cut off the blazon, here it is in full

Nice! I had done one a while back - not really a crest but crest-ish. Mine was just a drawing though; yours is much more professional looking

edit for having linked the wrong picture

Good Morning FCP!

I see you finally decided to acknowledge my existence SD. That was what I needed, so I'll settle down now. I was starting to get the impression that you were ignoring me. Which is, of course, strictly not allowed.

Super, don't be so sure about your loss .. if the judges happen to be some of the rhetoric > logic & references crowd, you'll surely win. I actually had to look up a few of the words you used, and that hasn't happened in years. Since we're all hanging out bored, perhaps you could give us some vocabulary lessons.

I think I shall be working on a new avatar this a. m. ..

orange, don't be fooled .. I'm not really human, that's just the disguise.

Love that adb! Do you mind if I try to combine it with heraldic doings as the Fight Club Pub one?

Go for it

It doesn't have any of the symbolism of heraldry, but I thought the lion and the unicorn was kind of appropriate for Fight Club. And the bottle of Maker's Mark, of course. Though some people thought the alien should hold it instead of the lion

Mornin' peeps.

How goes it?

I was also reading through some of the debates last night, starring posts (except for Heike's
) and all of them are outstanding.

Buenos Dias Amigos! Me gustaría algún vino blanco por favor! Donde est la Playa? Esto me huele raro. Tengo hambre. Estoy dormido. Es mejor dejar ahora, o que esté seguro de que se lo siento.

These phrases constitute my foundation in Spanish. I can expand and expound a bit more with the nouns, but basically this is it. With these key phrases I can pretty much get by in many languages.

Unfortunately in none of them do I know: How long is it usually between tournment rounds? Do we have weeks before we start again (those of us who make it to Round 2)?
