So trying to get back to serious business ...

It looks to me that all the Round 1 debates are done.

Ian is through on a forfeit, so is Maxmars though he's having a no points challenge match, and so is Skeptic1.

The only debate that needs a decision to be made on is I guess The Vagabond vs Tuning Spork.

Well done boys and girls, it was an outstanding round.

The Vagabond and I aren't done yet. He has one more reply and then our closing arguments.

I haven't caught him online in quite a while. His member page shows that he's been on ATS today, the 24th, but it said that almost 24 hours ago. I hope all is well with him. It doesn't seem like Vag to miss a debate post deadline.

I agree, it is worrying.

I hope he's ok and posts before his next deadline.

Sweet, and then that famous period between when the round ends and the results are in.

It's gonna be interesting in da club the next few days with folks losing their minds, anxiety disorders exposed, general crankiness, accusations hurled, significant hair loss, paranoia, random muttering.

And that's just Heike.

Yeah guys, I'm sorry about missing a post in a debate that started late to begin with.

My brothers and I were all working for our union's political action committee yesterday, which went late, and afterwards we all decided to get intoxicated. Unfortunately I had forgotten to check the time stamp on my opponents previous post, so I didn't realize how little time I would have to sober up and put together a post when I got home.

I'd like to acknowledge Tuning Spork for his sportsmanship in pressing the debate forward without milking the advantage by the way. In both the spirit and the letter of the rules he would have been within his rights to bury me in more new sources and socratic questions than could be responded to in one post, but not exercising that right seems very confident and very classy.

Oh, forgot to mention, we decided to get intoxicated because the union is considering making one of my brothers an organizer and the other one a business agent. So oddly enough my disappearance was the product of good news.

Believe me, I was tempted. But that kind of effort would have seriously cut into my layin'-around time.

Not me, obviously. I was busy googling for chicken dogs.

This may be the most sensible political action to take at this juncture in history.

Welcome back Vag! Glad you're okay

And I think SDog's right about the next few days in here. I'm already wondering how long it'll take the judges to make some decisions

Doopeydoopeydoo....

Are there enough of us present to have a silly bandwidth-draining chat-like conversation at our hosts' expense?

To wit: I read the fascinating OneMan24 vs. TruthWithin "penny debate" earlier and I'm wondering if we wanna play judge and jury on that one. Or any others. Or on anything else.

I think we're not really supposed to play judge and jury until the real judges get a chance to do so. We could probably dissect one of the forfeited matches though, I don't see any harm there.

I'm up for a good bandwidth-draining conversation. I haven't had my coffee yet though, so don't expect much sense out of me.

Aw, sense shmense.

I posted earlier, in the Board Business forum, about a strange quasi-pornographic ad in the sidebar that -- in addition to it's lewd streaming visual -- included a rather annoyingly repetitive audio file.

I saw, afterward, that you'd already raised an issue with that ad. If my chronic refreshing is any indication, that particular ad seems to have been taken out of rotation.
