Got a question....

My opponent in my debate requested a 24 hour extension 24 hours ago and has yet returned to the debate to post their closing.

Do I wait until they return to post my closing or do I go ahead and do it now since the 24 hours are up?

Just want to make sure I follow the rules and don't screw up....

If the twenty four hour extension is over, then you can post.

Yes, you can post, BUT "real world" commitments sometimes take over and people are not able to post when needed.

It is very nice to wait and post and allow the other to post when they can.

I have only done one debate, so I am not an "old timer", but I personally would wait, no matter how long it took for my opponent to post.

You never know what is happening in the other's life............. so, do as you will.....................but you may want to really consider waiting on the other person.

That's why I asked. I haven't heard anything from them and nothing has been posted.

Just want to make sure what the next course of action is.

always take a look at the timestamp
when your opponents last post is monday feb 9 12 pm than you have to post until tuesday feb 10 12 pm!

taking the 24 hours extension just makes him not to post 24 hours after your last post

if he doesn.t use the whole time - his problem

you post inbetween the 24 hours after the timestamp of his last post

edit:

skeppy you mean the 24 hour extension is over?
usually you can post your next post than
since it is a challenge match and it is the first one for both of you, o would wait as questioningall recommended
maybe sending him an u2u?

in tournaments i guess you would just post!

I shot them a u2u. I'll wait until I hear from them or from someone around here with a higher paygrade than me.

Hey, do you have a cute lil bambino at home now? Your wife made it through labor peacefully and none painfully?

Yep, everything and everyone is doing fine.

The little guy was 8 pounds 2 ounces and 20 1/2 inches long.

He was also blessed with his fathers devilishly good looks...

Thanks OL!

I have plenty of pictures of the little guy from his first 4 days of life.

I won't share them publicly here on the boards, but there some of you who might expect to see some pictures privately.

Thanks so much everybody!

I came back this morning thinking I'd be able to jump into my debate, but it seems Ian still hasn't posted his response. (which is fine because I told him not to worry about it until I came back)

Well.....I'm back Ian!

No rush on your post buddy, take your time and we'll get moving again when you're ready.
