That was a great debate to do, I can't wait to do another one in the future! (Man I should just quit school...my online-life would be so much easier!)

Thank you everyone!

why having a real life if online is so much easier
?
i am also pondering about it, but who pays the bills?

LOL. Well if I didn't have RL comitments all the time (I swear, my calendar is always full of crap to do)....

Ah yes Bills.... I pay all my my bills - with the money I've earned working all Summer, and my Student Loan. However, quitting school would just mean I'd have to take on a real job, thus defeating the purpose of quitting school to maintain my online-life. LOL.

Oh dear. Speaking of which, real life is calling me. I have quite the drive today. Time to load up the car and get going.

Congratulations Orange-Light!!! The topic was great, the debate was fun to read and also showcased that Carrot is surely going to be a formidable opponent in future debates.

Let's fire-up the disco-ball and celebrate!

For noobs wanting to learn about debate tactics I think my current debate against AshleyD is good.
No matter how many rebuttals I do, no matter how much logic I bring up,if I continue the debate in this fashion, I am going to loose for certain. Why? More on that after the debate. There's only one way I stand a chance of turning the debate. How? More on that after the debate.

and since the debate, which was more than enjoyable to read, is over the honorable skyfloating might now share his thoughts concerning this subject

and all of uss will learn

or is the debate over when the judges have decided who is going to win?

Well...after my first four posts it was obvious I was going to loose. The reason is that I was in the reactive, only posting con-Ashley and not having any case of my own. Ashley had subtly forced me into a reaction-mode.

So if I was to stand any chance whatsoever of turning it around, I had to form, shape and express my opinion rather than basing my entire posts on what Ashley said.

Hence the fourth post which was no longer reactive but pro-active, chosen at a time when Ashley only had one more post left.

This, imo, improved my chances a little.

thanks for explaining,

after re-reading again i can clearly see what you mean.
once a debate friend adviced me to built up ones own case, which is in my opinion totally connected to what you mentioned. so you won.t allow the opponent playing around with you.

I'll share my opinions after the debate. Until then, there will be an ulcer-tongued, and gritty-toothed woman over here in Texas. Just goes with the territory of having to bite my tongue while grinding me teeth.
