Like GAOT said, everyone needs a designated driver. But fine! I'll take everyone else home while you have to pay for a cab.

Sorry, ladies. I simply cannot limit my affection for Mem to a single time or place. It is constant and unwavering, like my desire to drink alcohol.

Thanks for that and clever, as per.

I actually used to have that album. And the video... that post Joushua Tree era when all vids of soluful songs had to be shot in sepia in the desert regardless of their lyrics.

A good whiskey is a thing of beauty...something to be treasured. A bad whiskey though....can turn you off for life.

So Nyk, if you were to reccomend a good whisky - what would you reccommend I try? I've tried Crown & Jamesons...lol thats all. I'm a little green in the ways of Hard Liqour. (Aside from Vodka - but can you even really call Apple Vodka Hard Liquor?)

I myself love wine. I've developed a taste for Red Wine over the past couple of years - nothing beats a nicely polished glass with a splash of Merlot - well other than not drinking it alone. White wine is alright, but I don't drink it that often. Red has "antioxidants" - yup... that is why I drink it....

Well, I do enjoy Crown with a twist of lime, but that's a blended whiskey and not a bourbon.

The most popular would be Makers Mark, but I'd go with Buffalo Trace or Woodford Reserve.

Yup...

40% is usually a good indication...though Southern Comfort is classified as a Liqueur despite being 50% alcohol (100 proof). Liqueurs are generally lower in alcohol content because the intent is to gain the flavor of the fruit/vegetable (I forget the name off hand but there is an artichoke liqueur!!) and use it as a mixer...to supplement the basic five (Vodka, Brandy, Rum, Tequila and Whiskey though Whiskey has several different classifications such as Bourbon, Scotch, Irish and Blended).

Funny, the things you learn going to Bartending school (yup, I was suckered into it years ago...

Yup...though I don't usually like to mix non-alcoholic with alcoholic.

Seems a waste...

AGREED. On the Rocks or Shaken with Ice - none of this "Apple Juice" Business.

I would've also classified Apple Vodka as Hard Liqour - but some think that because its flavored it loses its status (My cousin - jerk).

Thanks for the reccommendations Nyk! Perhaps I'll get up the nerve to try one of those....

Just reading the conversation over the last couple of pages is enough to give someone a hangover.

Just saying.
