oubliette |ˌoōblēˈet|
noun
a secret dungeon with access only through a trapdoor in its ceiling.
ORIGIN late 18th cent.: from French, from oublier ‘forget.’

Used by Mr. McLean to conclude his title debate against Skyfloating:

Let us not let belief become a bubble, or skepticism a vain oubliette.

Leading to much fun being made, and insinuations that his win was based on the use of that word alone.

Now being wielded by Mr. Oscitate in an attempt to deflect my presentation of the Great Brushmakers Conspiracy:

I will magnanimously ignore my opponent's toilet-fetish and proceed with my argument, lest I be drawn into the oubliette my opponent would like you to believe is the Christmassy spirit.

Dogs vs. cats

horses vs. bicycles

Mac vs. Windows PC

Mountains vs. Beaches (for a vacation)

Country vs. City (living)

Experience vs. Knowledge (or Experience vs. Education)

Smart vs. Attractive (which is it better to be)

any of those interest you?

Oh those sound like a lot of fun. I'd love to do the beach view and the smart view if Sky isn't interested. Good ideas, Heike!

I'm not wanting to get too awfully serious at this point. I'll be back to valiantly defending elf rights after TWISI posts, someone may yet step up to finish the vaccine debate with me, LL will hopefully go forward with the veggie debate when he reappears (hoping he's okay), and I still theoretically have a mystery topic debate with a mystery opponent pending from MemoryShock (I think it was Shock and not Semper). I'm also writing a story for the YYSLSC contest.

Do ya think I might be addicted?

Oh I TOTALLY understand.

Both the addiction part and the wanting to go for something lighter.

It's one of the reasons I want to forgo my right to any points. I just know that if I receive them, I will take it to the level of obsession to get more, more, more. I'm now addicted to this forum enough already, thank you! Can't wait to do another one really soon.

Sometime down the line I might be interested in country vs. city living

I'm assuming you'd take country and I'd take city, but I guess we could switch. I'd have to do a heck of a lot of research if we did though

Yep, I would definitely prefer to take country on that, now that I finally have my little ranch house on 10 acres out on a gravel road.

Edit to add: I wrote a story for the contest if anyone wants to read it.

My turn to rant - Why does my QA department feel the need to drag me in for a "100% playthrough" on a game that has passed Sony a million times over? The sku I am working on is the last one of its' type yet I have to drag my happy ass into work at 4am to do some simple work that a fricjin' monkey can do...I am grumpy and I want to go home.

Meh...
