I was halfway kidding.
Wouldn't know how to do the Christmas lights thingy. But if you would like something, here is this. Absolutely no obligation at all whatsoever. It's a dragon in red and green Christmas colors resting on holly and berries. No pressure whatsoever if you don't want to give up your current avatar for the Christmas season lol I just found it in a Google search and thought it was cute and Christmasy.

And before anyone jumps my butt, I will stop derailing the thread out of my own free will. No need to scold me.

Aww, thanks Ashley! It's lovely. I have it saved and will put it on just a bit closer to Christmas and wear it proudly for the season.

And you can't really derail the FCP - it's never on any one track!

I promised 10% percent of my proceeds to the local Churches if she would help instill fear into the hearts of my opponents. So thanks Ashley!

Lucid, believe it or not I am strongly pro animal rights and manage to reconcile that with being an omnivore.

Reconciled? Through the holy middle way: free-range?

Well I would imagine you to be
No self-respecting dragon wouldn't be!!
hehe

So you're officially pro, taking the con? Admirable my scaly friend

So, our topic can cover the health-related and moral aspects of vegetarianism. You're pro and I'm con.

Alright, juxtaposed it is. Health and the ethics

Shall we try to hammer it out ourselves or leave it to our capable facilitators (Semperfortis and Memory Shock) to write the actual topic for us?

Well since I am green and you're a veteran, I would rather this malleable topic be placed under the tender care of your mighty hammer then my own
For the same reason, I would be perfectly content with Semperfortis andor Memory Shock refining it for us as well

A vegetarian is a better person.

Not quite my official position
But I suppose I could argue for that as well haha.

Vegetarians: Happier and Healthier.
Vegetarians are green, good, and gesund. (Gesund being the German word for healthy, I couldn't think of an English 'g' word for healthy.

Vegetarianism: A positive advancement for humanity.

I like any of these ideas. They are all gesund in my *book!

Although, 'a positive advancement for humanity' kinda broadens the scope to a more macro sense eh? Thus resurfacing the socio-economic angle from earlier. Hey, that would be fun too. Either of these ideas sounds solid to me
Oh I am excited.

OMG! Lucid! You finally made in through the threshold. Welcome!

Oh my. Confidence. That's awesome.

Yay! I am finally here!
As for the confidence... I am like that Lucky Number Sleven guy... it's not so much that I shouldn't be afraid, as it's that I am unable to
Deny fear!

Truth be told, the more I read previous debates, the more my confidence dwindles. I guess I know where all the smarties have been kickin it!...

Do I get to look forward to reading another one of yours in the near future?

Good morning Orange

I'm not a fan of the German language either – trying to read it is like doing a complex logic puzzle to me

I think it's something about the page-and-a-half-long sentences where the verb doesn't come until the very end and every other word is at least five syllables and cobbled together from two or three other words

@nyk: I believe it would be me who baited LL into debating, though I didn't originally mean to debate him myself. There was a religious thread going on a few days ago that we were both participating in, along with a couple of people from the believer side of the fence, and the question of whether Christ's teachings were actually Gnostic in character was brought up. It was taking the thread off topic, so someone started a new thread, which almost immediately got involved in the various types of Gnosticism, rather than whether Christianity was originally gnostic, so I recommended that if they were interested in really working through the question, they might want to do so here

i usually use very short sentences.
when i read english newspaper articles i always got the feeling that they use 1 huge sentence where i would use about 3 or 5

but half pages long sentences remind me of a sociologist i had to read at university
erving goffman - he used to write sentencens long as highway 101 and i couldn.t find the essence in it- it was terrible

but we won.t start a german class at the FCP by no means

there are many people around who studied at least a little gernan, really impressive

I only learned to read German for graduate school – it was a "German for reading social sciences" course – and one of our main texts was Goffman

edit to add: you think he was hard to read as a German native, just imagine trying to learn German by reading him.

dear me
that is quiet a challenge dingbats
my sympathy for you

i am not sure if goffman is german

– nope he isn.t
en.wikipedia.org...
canadian of origin.

he was not very difficult to read, but i never got the essence among all the examples he wrote about. i had to formulate a thesis for term papers.
i hated that with goffman.

what is graduated school?

edit;
hi ashley

nice to see you more often honey

Welcome to the cage Lucid and CA_Orot, looking forward to sparring with you one day soon. I'm also in love with your avatar! (CA_Orot)

And "wow" did the pub get warm all of a sudden, we added almost 2% more pub-talk over night (well, in Europe anyway)

Yes I do, and not in the U.K. I hesitate to add further information, it would nullify the co-ordinates so painstakingly added below my avatar. I am, however, a separate branch entirely so I wouldn't worry
