Congratulations on your first vote!

I'm headed off after work to get my vote in today. Hopefully I won't be in line too long though.

So my absentee ballot went in the mail Friday. Got the talking heads on in the living room, though I think I'll switch to Colbert/Stewart once they go live.

Thanks ding.
An hour and fifteen minutes in line.

DC is not the best organized for voting.
But from what I am seeing on the news other places have it much much worse.
Especially next door in Virginia where people are waiting for over five hours.
I hope too many people who want to vote don't get discouraged.

Yeah its getting ridiculous. My school had one of those, it seemed good on paper ideas, and had ballots from every county in the state for students to vote. But you can imagine how that turned out with people getting the wrong ballots, sifting through stacks, etc.

Let's just say that was funny as hell, but over the top.

Now, pour me a drink before I break out the rolled newspaper.

Bailey's on the rocks, please! It's going to be a long, long night...

I was sure to win too.
I want to know how you're gonna get me the 100,000 points you now owe me.
200 applauses please.

Oh, and 10 points for the upload space that just cost me.

That small glass is gonna be gone in a minute, much like my funny post.
Maria is going to require a least two bottles tonight.
Let me pour some for ya.

Okay, opening statement for my second debate up. I sure would like to be seeing some stars for reasons other than having my horse rear up and whack me in the head!

I'm grateful that the judges' comments were posted before I had to make this opening statement; I have a chance to at least try to correct my mistakes from the first debate. I'm doing a lot more research for this one instead of trusting my own knowledge and opinions.

*Heike bums a drink from Maria and collapses on the noobie bench.

As someone who has been debating here since a long time, may I suggest that it depends on the debate whether to rely on research or own your own knowledge.

There have been debaters who posted loads of references, research and links and still lost.

I read your debate and think you did fine. Win some, loose some.

Good morning, everyone! Have a nice election?

I've made some coffee, for the crew:

It's nothing too special, just a fairly decent locally-roasted Sumatran, but it's fresh! Enjoy!

Morning all...

Thank God it's November 5th and thank god I didn't opt for a political topic for Ian/Sky...

Thanks for the coffee...

Sky .. thanks. Your opinion means a lot to me, because I have a lot of respect for you. [hug]

Shock .. I'm reading your "I didn't vote" thread. Gonna have something to say there but I just can't post until I've read the whole thread.

Ian, thanks for the coffee! Hit the spot!

P.S. Thanks for the stars whoever, but don't forget nyk537 needs some too. I wouldn't want him to get discouraged and give up too soon!

That is a mighty ohktapus!
But it is not my ohktapus.

It's gonna take a lot of Ouzo and Retsina to get through it.
Also, how you gonna whip it?

Whip it? Who said anything about it being whipped? All you said was
*Now where's my ohktapus?*

I googled "ohktapus" and found no references, so I assumed you merely spelled octopus according to hooked on phonics and got you one...

If I was wrong .. I'm sorry .. but you requested him so you get to request him to leave...
