The thing is... people who are tired of this religion crap are the minority... and we're told to shut up because "they are just people expressing their opinions about the world and you're just being disrespectful and intolerant".... Well, this is all fun and great... but I'm realizing more and more that most of these people (and people in general) have no opinions of their own. So honestly, we can nurture these people's ignorance, or we can kick it in the ass. Just a kick, that's all. A kick in the direction towards free thought, instead of contrived BS. Just because you're afraid of everything crashing down around you, doesn't mean you should wallow in something that's not working for your own comfort.
It's disrespectful to hold onto some belief for your own selfish comfort and not look at the world around you and the suffering that this lie has brought upon the world. It's a selfish comfort thing. It's like the fat kid eating most of the food when a bunch of children get stranded on an island and don't exactly know when they are gunna be rescued.
What? We gotta be nice and understanding towards that guy just because he has a weight problem and he's using up our resources just because he knows no other way? No, there's gunna be a harsh lesson involved.
Or else we will perish!

EDIT:
Maybe I sound a bit harsh. I have empathy. I really do... but I also have common sense, and common sense says that on this site, people don't wanna hear about how much you love control mechanisms that other people or systems have instilled into your brain.
So I'm a bit harsh towards people who are trumpetting things such as religion or thr greatness of America, or ANY of that stuff.
I'm a white guy. Would it be okay for me to go around saying "I'm white, and as a white guy, I believe that we should follow in the footsteps of our white ancestry...and savagely kill all other races just because they aren't white guys, too."
It's an extreme expample, but you get the point. That offends me just the way that racist biggotry offends others. As a whole, we should work towards ending ignorance on this site.
At the end of the day, I do not wish for these people to be banned or censored... but just told to cool it.
COOL IT! If you wanna mention your faith, go mention it in the Religious section, please!
Religion is like pornography to me. I can't stand people coming into an intelligent debate, and bringing religion into it. Just cool it about mentioning religious propaganda. Think for yourself.
There's a lot more going on than most of you realize, and it is actually TO YOUR DETRIMENT that you continue giving your power to these ideologies!
So... I'm on your side! People are gunna eventually have to save your ass if you choose to count on, because he ain't comin'! He ain't listenin'! He's fighting the good fight in another shape and form, maybe somewhere in another dimension. He did what he could, and now it's up to us to futher his message, not get stuck on his image or make a religion out of his words. Messages are more than just words and names!

And then along come the Fundies to tell us that "this was all a prophecy" with a bunch of vague bible quotes that might be predicting something similar to the topic at hand.
So the scientific people try to refute that by showing examples of experiments that can be reproduced and observed, and citing tangible evidence, and then the Fundies come back on with their "But God is never wrong, so you must be" argument, and the thread degenerates.
And worst of all, when you ask them to stay on topic, they go off with "Well you just can't handle GOD" or some half-cocked thing like the first fundie posted on this thread.
And this is just what happens to the (relatively) good threads. On the really lame ones, you've also got people insisting everything relates to a giant invisible planet hurtling towards us through outer space, a bunch of shapeshifters trying to rule the world, and a bunch of emo kids who think they're "indigo children" or whatever they're calling themselves today. Oh, and 2012. Let's not forget that every single conceivable topic you could ever possibly discuss is somehow directly tied to 2012. Because, you know, 2000 already came and went.
It's enough to make me completely understand why that WolfofWar guy has half the site on his foes list and not a single friend.

If you think it through, there is a very simple reason why someone who is overtly religious, say evangelical, would want to subvert the very reason for existence of a place like ATS.
Having a place like ATS where everything is questioned, nothing is taken for granted, is fundamentally threatening to religious belief.
I can understand why they would want to destroy ATS, and failing that, to turn it into something ...different.
Now how's that for a conspiracy?
