Security Classification

The Fiber optics portion of the camera is classified CONFIDENTIAL however it is incorporated into the camera case and is not visible from the outside.
Personel without security clearance are permitted to handle and operate the camera only under the surveillance of a person with a clearance.
Performance data recorded during [ ? ] tests will not be classified.
The camera must be kept in a secured area when not in use.

I'm a bit confused.

How does the fact that NASA used fiber-optics in the Apollo cameras help prove a moon hoax, like the YouTube video implies?

First of all, it does not surprise me one bit that Apollo engineers had the use fiber-optic technology at their disposal. The idea of Fiber optics goes back to the 1920s and 1930s, and and reasearchers in the 1960s began developing fiber optics for use in communication transmission.

Secondly, it was known then that fiber optic technology is POTENTIALLY very powerful and the U.S. government obviously wanted to keep it out of the hands of the Soviet Union -- thus the reason for classiying the technology. And once the existence of the technology is classified, then people are forbidden to talk about it.

If that technology was classified back then, it would not surprise me to know that it has never been "de-classified", in which case it would still be against the law for NASA to divulge they used the technology...that is until someone gets around to de-classifying it.

I'm sure there is plenty of other (more mundane) classified technology used in Apollo that NASA is still not allowed to divulged to this day.
