City Job Loss sees trophy wives seeking divorce

www.telegraph.co.uk

With thousands of job losses announced and more rumoured to be on the way, divorce specialists say that some wives want to secure good divorce deals before their husbands lose their jobs.

Consequently, divorce specialists have seen the number of inquiries treble.

Sandra Davis, of matrimonial law specialists Mishcon de Reya – which initially represented Heather Mills in her divorce battle with Sir Paul McCartney – said: "When money looks like flying out of the window, love walks out of the door.

One of the unseen consequences of the "credit crunch" and personally one that I find rather amusing. To me it shows how shallow the rich can be, displaying a lack of commitment or loyalty to anything but money. I also find it sad that people are driven to such greed, willing to basically prostitute themselves out to the biggest payer for wealth and all the trappings it brings.

On the other hand, I keep getting this mental image of paunchy middle aged bankers having to sell the Aston Martin and the Docklands penthouse and moving back in with mum, after their twenty something trophy wife takes them to the cleaners.

Boom times ahead too for the parasitic divorce lawyers.

What a good reason to stay out of the marriage. I have read little things like this in my times, but non that have spelled it out so clear like this thread. Good find. I rather think every single man on this site should read this one. It is to bad this this shows just how low our society has dropped when it come to marriage.

Wow interesting story. Makes perfect since. So the question is who is at fault here the trophy wives who are like leaches and went and married for one reason only? Or is it the husbands fault who wanted the trophy wife in hopes she would stick with him through thick and thin?

That is a debatable question.

To me this is not so much a debatable issue between the wives being the leaches or the husband wanting the wife to stand by him through thick and thin. To me the issue is vowing to be some ones partner through life while the hole time desiring nothing more then just be the leach.

Right but lets face it if you have some fat ugly guy with a lot of money and he is with some hot big boobed blond then one would assume she is there for one purpose and the man knows this also. So maybe he asked for it.

Just because a man is with a busty blond is not reason to go and think there relationship is just for convince, or just one thing. If there is wedlock one should think there are vows that go along with it.

The men who put themselves in these situations are just as much to blame as the trophies. It's easy to point the finger at the gold-diggers and say they are "leaches" but what many people overlook is how these men must have such low self-esteem in order to build their entire persona around their bank account.

Strong character, family values, solid work ethics, loyalty and love is what a strong marriage is built on in my opinion. My wife and I are working constantly to better ourselves in all ways both monetarily (for our children to come) and spiritually. Life's journey through marriage is about growing together and sharing everything both the good and the bad.

Love is the only foundation you need. Everything else is just gravy on top.

My heart goes out to all these people who are so empty that they must fill the void with material things in order to feel successful.

now here's a real man who get's it.
the only thing that i can add to this is that those people who the article speaks of are having their universe unfold just as expected and nothing less .
our country is full of those who who have to use their money , vehicles and houses as an extension of their manhood . and to think that the majority of them are the same one's who were the hippie's of the 60's and now are calling the shot's for the rest of the country.

I know Grover, it's just so sad.

Blackbox, good post. These people are driven by nothing but greed for wealth and power. I doubt there's much in the way of morals or ethics amongst them, but that's the sort of people that big money attracts and corrupts, although I suspect many were that way before they made it big.
I can feel compassion for people who have nothing, who have never had anything, but I feel nothing for those who have had it all and thrown it all away.

So are you saying the men in the high profile positions just should not marry or what?

Not at all.

I was saying that men in high profile positions, IMO, should base their marriages off of love, strong character, family values, solid work ethics, and loyalty instead of marrying for only beauty or youth.

Beauty and youth are a great asset in a marriage but the other apsects of what I think make a lasting commitment are just as important to the whole.

Thats kinda what I was trying to say but you said it much better. Whos really at blame the men who allowed this to happen or the women who saw a good opportunity. The women are still crap to me in my eyes who marry only for money but these men do ask for it.
