I don’t think it’s a case of America forcing itself on Australia as some people are claiming, I think it’s more a case of Australians wishing
they were the United States, I mean let’s be honest with ourselves here, this country aint nothing special.
Australia spends too much time trying to copy America because it cannot come up with its own ideas.
The people here are way too overly patriotic and spend too much time getting off on the idea that this is the best country in the world to live in
(far from it).
It’s so bad here that if you buy any product made overseas (which by the way is usually better than anything made here, especially food!) you are
considered UN-Australian. If you don’t play cricket or watch the “footy” you’re UN-Australian, if you ever criticise anything Australian then
you’re UN-Australian.
As for too many Australians watching American TV shows, who in their right mind would watch any Australian produced shows? Australians cannot make
good TV, when I do watch TV (very little) it’s usually only European, British or American content. I mean thank god for the internet or we would
never get world news (Australian channels think only Australian news is important – local news for local people ).
I don’t think Australia is Americanised, it’s just trying to be (and doing a bad job of it), I’ve been to the US plenty of times and loved the
place, I can tell you, Australia is nowhere, nowhere at all close to becoming America, it never will be.
