I wonder if Earth may suffer the same fate as Mars and loose its water.

Well if when Mars lost its atmosphere, I imagine that it would have evaparated into space...or maybe the aliens took it.

triplesod, sorry, it looked like you were going to start a long poem, ignore me.

The atmosphere if Mars is thought to have been lost by a runaway greenhouse effect and boiled away into space, according to one book on my shelf.

It would be cool as the camera on one of the rovers was doing a pan, a creature runs across the screen

Not likely, there'd need to be plants more likely than not, to support larger creatures... Though seeing an insect may not be out of the question....that'd be pretty damn funny.....

Well, seems like they've finally come out and made the first step... No probably, no maybe, but a definite "yes, these were immersed in water". That is a good sign, that disclosure is closer.....

Next should be the retest findings of the Martian asteroids, and correlating it with findings of microbes on Mars....

Step after that...the announcing of trillobyte-like fossils in the rock....

Who knows how long this will all take though....???

to bad they had only a scope for non organic materials. next mision will have one they said then they will look for organic material. and maybe life will be found then.

Not what I was hoping for, but still pretty amazing.

One question though. Just what is Mars' atmosphere made up of? I keep wondering that when they mention winds on the planet...

Well....Mars should had oughta been washed/flooded

by H2O when the EXPLODED PLANET V (?as in vulcan)
blew up, some 2.4 billion years ago..

Mars was a satellite/moon of Planet V.

all this is well known as the Exploded Planet Hypothesis, on Google, naturally

Lets' watch as the explainations develop,
because i expect that they will find oceans of water
were a very short term phenomena, long, long ago
on Mars...water that was not absorbed by land,
since dissapated into space just like any transported
atmosphere from the Exploded Planet

explore the EPH website, the links lead to other
planetary models of solar system development
which challenge the popular accepted model Y2004era

CO2 mostly, the atmospheric density is only a small fraction of Earths though.

(Can't remember if its 1 or 5% off the top of my head, something that low though).

I'd almost forgot about the Exploded Planet Theory...

Not sure I'd go for it, but never really delved into it much....basically that the asteroid belt, is the remnants of a planet that went boom.....

I dont mean to sound like a conspiracy whacko but I really dont think NASA is being totally honest with us regarding life on MARS. I get the impression they are trying to find the best way to get us use to the idea that we might not be alone and indeed are being visited by other beings. Stay tuned for more controlled leaks on this subject.
