I have to admit that when the annonymous posts first started appearing, I was annoyed all to hell and back. As time has passed, and I've gotten used
to it, I've actually came to appreciate some of the posts. Some of them have been very informative. One in particular that I read earlier tonight
was flat out amazing. I guess you just have to take the good with the bad sometimes.

I keep getting confused with all of this Anonymous poster business. Half the time I cant tell which one of these buggers is saying what. Up until
recently I was thinking that there was just one person using that function, but evidently there are many?
Short and skinny, it is sort of annoying, and rather unfair to the rest of us who have to stand by what we type on here. As someone pointed out, I
have yet to see much real input from these folks, certainly no mind blowing information being disclosed. So what is the purpose of having this
function if it only serves as a means for people to post nonsense and then disappear?
Sort of like having a license to harrass and act foolish without shouldering any of the consequences, no? Im nobody to complain because obviously this
site is free, but I can offer my opinion as a regular visitor. And that opinion is that the anonymous posting doesn't add anything to the site. It
does however serve to confuse and annoy a lot of us who visit and participate regularly.
ATS = still great, even with the annoying faceless boogie men

This anonymous poster thing is getting out of hand. ATS needs to assign an anonymous code to the anonymous post so an answer to an anonymous post can
be made without confusing things more than they are now. Real simple, since ATs knows the unregistered IP is not in there member database, that IP
should be assigned a code number or word from a code generated script to follow that IP forever when on ATS. Just like when we all signed up.

I don't have a problem with the system but the short thread history issue does need working out. Since it looks like prior to post acceptance it
uses the same function as ignore if ignore would also remove posts from the short history below the reply form it'd be a benefit to both
functions.
It's usually easy enough to tell by language and grammar who's who on the anonymous posts, and people shouldn't be fully trusting messages on the
Internet anyway. Anonymous or registered.

I feel like this new system of Posting Anonymously is going to have some bad times and some good times. As some one already said before me there has
been some great posts made via this posting anonymous system, but I imagen that the abovetopsecret.com Mods have had to delete some posts that
were'nt very nice at all. Do you find out who the posters are through their IP address's, as if to check it against the user lists or do people get
away with it ?
Any way, I think that this should be kept on abovetopsecret.com, even thought its hard to 'Deny Ignorance' when people can now post anonymously;
which means its a little hard to have a debate with some one with-out being able to reply to a user name.
I guess we'll take the little good, with the bulk of bad.

I like the idea of posting without the requirement of an account. My work place has very stringent rules in place, especially about internet
browsing, and this gives me an opportunity to drop by, leave a comment, and move on.
Thanks, I love it.

Well, the one and only positive things I like about the Anonymous Posting, is the avatar, that's it.
I got one comment on one of the threads I created, and it seemed extremely ignorant, so guess what I did to that.
I added the Anonymous Poster to ignore, which has made any and all subsequent anonymous posting obsolete to Me.
I can fully understand the Administration's policy of "give it a try" as that's what they want to do, to try to pull in more people who might be
interested in becoming members.
I respect that of the Three Amigos as well as the Moderators.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if you could do that with an e-mail to the White House and send an anonymous e-mail to them in regards to Bush?
It will never happen though, as everything incoming to the White House is watched, sifted, and given a threat-level.

My absolute beef with this, is that they can reply to any of our posts immediately. But we see an anon posts, and it takes awhile for us to be able to
see it to read it. IMHO..THAT disrupts the flow of a thread.
The benefits of being a member should be included that we see ALL posts including anon.
If they are deemed against the T&C..that is what the ALERT button is for.
No different than any other member who goes off on a rant.
Just my 2 pennies.

Well I can only speak for myself rather then the staff but I will say this . Your logic is sound but if anonymous posts weren't screened before they
appeared to members the feather(SP?) would become an open invite for spammers and trolls .

Stuff Screened Out
Q: Who screens anoynmous posts?
A: ALL Moderators and Staff
Q: What is screened out?
A:
* Private numbers and addresses
* Porn, Gore and Illegal Activity
* Advertisement & Spam
* Off-topic posts
* One-Liners or posts that add nothing that hasnt already been said many times in the thread.
* In rare case it can happen that we miss a good post. If that happens, simply re-post.
Q: Why is this stuff screened out?
To avoid ATS becoming a junkyard
Q: What if I notice abuse of the anonymous system (for example a member "talking to himself" as anonymous in his own threads?
A: If you are quite certain this is happening, alert us using the complaints-form in your member-center.

Q: Anonymous posts on BTS...why?
A: I dont have a clue, sorry. If not answered in this thread you might consider asking in the Complaint-Form, by U2U or in the ATS Issues Thread.

I thought anon posts were supposed to be approved before appearing on the board? If so, then which total idiot approved this post:

What value *at all* does that bring to either the topic at hand (Aurora, does it exist?), the forum at hand (Aircraft Projects) or this website?!
Its stupid, idiotic crap like this thats making me come back to this website less and less, and seriously making me reconsider posting at all.
Are you actually trying to drive people away?! Are you trying to turn each and every forum into somewhere where 5 year olds can hang out and post
rubbish?
