Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this..
I found this coin at work this morning. It's soldered to a gold ring, and made into a necklace. The writing/symbols look very familiar. I don't suspect it to be real, but curiosity has gotten the best of me. Does anyone recognize the symbols, or know what it means?

Could you post a pic where we could see the writing?
Is it copper? Perhaps brass?

My first thought was of an ornamental button, but I can't be sure at the moment. You did say it was soldered into the bezel, right?

If you could post a larger picture of both sides it would be easier to figure out. Other than that you could always take it to your local stamp and coin shop.

It is very poorly soldered. Can't quite make out what the back says.

it is a masonic pendant. it tells of the owner, from what i can remember it tells of his lucky number, astrological sign ...etc..

but perhaps some masons would like to harp in if they can. somethings they are not allowed to talk about.

That thing is old, some of it looks close to some PHoneician writing or symbols.

Well, if you found it at work, your best bet is to find the original owner and ask them.
To me it looks like a cheap piece of jewlery, I've seen many pieces like it at thrift stores, and that ma ybe all it is. It may have a meaning to the owner, but if that's the case, I doubt anyone here will know it.

As for old... not raly. If it's copper or bronze, it'd definetly be showing it's age, wouldn't be anywhere near as crisp.

Geometric forms, science is held in shapes.

VALUABLE I BET.

ALIEN IN NATURE, MOST DEFINITE. The symbols alone say outside ths TIMESPACE.

It's Sanskrit - I have it in a book in front of me. I could translate the letters one by one and MIGHT be able to get something intelligible through a translator. I'm on my way to bed now though.

My best bet is that is a souvenir or a "warding amulet".

I'll check your thread here tomorrow and see if somebody translated the Sanskrit for you. Otherwise, I'll have to fetter it out letter by letter and use an enept computer translator program. It would be best to find it's owner as I doubt it has anything more than superstitious OR sentimental value.

I would say along the lines of a COSMIC COMPASS.

There is knowledge behind it. ITS COSMIC.

(I would say the sun coming in aligment with the Earth and people dancing on the moon.)

it looks like "sviluppa a sensa artistico" bastardized italian perhaps?

which is third person for "to develop an artistic sense".

the symbology is most assuredly a magical sigil.
A person can personalize these sigils as to the look
so they might not be found in any magical alphabet.

I agree, for a "coin" it has absolutely no wear or corrosion or staining on it (which are things you would expect in an ancient coin).
Absolutely nothing about it gives any evidence that it is old (or a coin for that matter), it looks like one of the nondescript cheap pendants you find in those New Age shops which cater towards those who are interested in magic, crystals and astrology etc.

That's exactly what it says, and what it means: DEVELOP YOUR ARTISTIC SENSE.

If you ask me, it may very well be a joke - or, more likely, one of the gazillion "lucky charms" sold on the streets of Rome and elsewhere in Italy.

By the look of the inscription itself, it was made no earlier than the late 1960's.

By the look of the medallion decoration itself, I am surprised that it was made before 2008...
