Jews defend Hagee's words

www.washingtontimes.com

David Brog, a Conservative Jew who is executive director of Mr. Hagee's nonprofit Christians United for Israel (CUFI), said critics misunderstood the biblical context.

"Leading rabbis have said the same thing," he said. "This is a legitimate effort to grapple with the age-old question of why God allows evil in the world. Pastor Hagee was not, as some are claiming, saying the Holocaust was good. He has said repeatedly, throughout his life, that the Holocaust was the greatest of tragedies.

The conspiracy here is about as plain as one can get. Religious leaders find themselves in conflict with the secular progressives, who distort the words and meanings of men of faith and before anyone has a chance to examine the intent of these men, we have a full-scale controversy where none really exists.

The same is true here on ATS. Without having a knowledge of Judaism or of Christianity, Hagee's remarks regarding the Holocaust are posted as ant-semitic, when in fact they are words that are consistent with the beliefs of many Jews.

Of course, Judaism is far from monolithic and there are Jews who oppose the State of Israel, but clearly, this brouhaha over Hagee's characterization of Hitler comes not from Jews, but from the secularists.

The fact is that much of what we take for normal behavior in this day and age is patently against the doctrine of many, if not most, religions and when these men express the precepts of their faith, they are in instant opposition with those who find religion itself objectionable.

I'm not going to assess the doctrines of the preachers who have been at the center of political debate these days, but clearly, the one group who had every right to be offended by Hagee, have been the ones who have come to Hagee's defense, not only because of his remarks, but because of his lifetime commitment to the rights of Jews and the State of Israel.

i'm in agreement with the ideal your trying to follow....

however, Hagee and others of his ilk..the ones who are extreme and fanatical about their religion are the one's i find objectionable and not 'religion' itself -
just to qualify the statement in above quote box which seems to Indict everyone who disagrees with all zealot religious figures.

Hagee is but one cog in the network of controling the masses....
for any who are interested, religion is used as a tool by the elites,
