Olmert questioned for second time in bribery investigation

www.jpost.com

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was questioned in the Prime Minister's Residence in Jerusalem on Friday morning on the bribery allegations involving New York financier Morris Talansky.

The prime minister was interrogated for around an hour in what was the second round of questioning he has faced in connection with the investigation.

Copies of e-mails taken from the computer of Shula Zaken, Olmert's former bureau chief and long-time secretary, show how Zaken documented regular cash transfers from Talansky, whom she referred to as the "the laundry man."

Yet more allegations of corruption and crime plague the Knesset...

First it was former-President, Moshe Katsav, being forced to stand down due to rape allegations and charges being pressed against him from 4 separate women: www.msnbc.msn.com...

And now Olmert's getting kickbacks from an American Jew in New York.
The Israeli Parliament sure knows how to live life in the fast line... money, women and targeted aerial bombings and artillery strikes.

What this story also highlights again, is the uncertainty and influence of the Jewish Lobby in America.

I'll never understand why or how Israel became the 51st State of the US.

I just don't get the debt America thinks it owes to the Israelis, especially since they had nothing to do with the creation of the state of Israel, yet now they have the burden of protecting and arming them, and generally sticking their noses into Israel's affairs.
Are they afraid of Israel dropping the anti-Semitism bomb?

From 2001-2005, over $6 billion dollars was given in "aid" to the Israelis last year, and what does Israel give back to the US? www.pdfdownload.org...

Bupkus, except for maybe Falafels and Hommus...
Oh and 34 dead+173 injured US servicemen.

The issue of the Jewish Lobby should really be brought to the surface, I don't think many people realise at all the kind of strain this close Alliance with Israel is putting on America.

Not only financially, but politically; America is now made the target for many more Islamic Fundamentalists because it's unrelenting support for the Israelis. It's one of the key motivations Osama states is behind his actions.

I mean the US is willing to set aside it's own national security to further the Interests of Israel?
Does America treat any of it's other allies like Princesses?
How come the UK isn't getting $2 billion a year in military hardware? Why isn't America sticking it's nose into Turkey's business or Australia's? Why doesn't it come to the aid of Russia in fighting Islamic Extremists?

You would think Olmert has a gun to Bush's head the way he's throwing cash at him these days.

Another link I found on the story: www.richardsilverstein.com...

The situation seems to be deeper and darker than the courts and police are accusing him of:

There’s the former Orthodox rabbi, Morris Talansky, become bag man for a prime minister. The former rabbi once recruited muscle to intimidate a disgruntled business partner at a Manhattan topless bar called, aptly enough, Scores.

The billionaire diet king, S. Daniel Abraham, is accused of stuffing cash into cases of Slim Fast and having them delivered by Olmert’s New York limo driver to Olmert’s hotel during his visits to the Big Apple. Talansky admits to having personally paid Olmert’s $5,000 hotel bill.

More shady goings-on in the Knesset, coming at a not too convienient time for Israel after the whole rape-affair with Katsav.

Of course none of the major media outlets bother to pick this up as of yet, corrupt Israeli politicians spending money strangely aren't obviously a great concern, especially when America is throwing more money at Israel every year than the combined GNP's of a lot of third world nations.
