usa and canada are already the same. we have nearly no differences compared to the rest of the world. by joining forces we have nothing to loose. the us is becomming socialist just like canada, mexico will be more difficult the rest of the world more so. the quickining has started on the north american continent, lets do it peacefully as a unified leader.

Canada is a country...it wouldnt be simply one state

it would be many states...Canada also wouldn't join the U.S. before some minor islands surrounding us like puerto rico & such.

Honestly, it would take decades to happen. It's not happening soon. Think logically.

We in Canada like our situation the way it is . We enjoy our medical very much, if your sick, or injured , you will be treated , simple. We enjoy our banking system, i believe (to tired to check) our top 5 in top 10 globally. Guns are for movies only, and being ranked 4th best country to live in , (US was 41) we'll be fine as we are .

Why should Canada buddy up with the states? Running out of natural resources are we? Yeah, good old Canada, The neighbor you ignore until times get tough. Quit treating it like you already own it.

Excuse me,

Canada is ALREADY the 51st state.

I used to live in Canada and now that I've moved overseas I realise how much Canada is Americanised.

I currently live in a commonwealth nation, a real one! Not a fake on like Canada.

It's become worse over the past decades as well.... in fact:

1) In Canada, we don't use the International A4 standard paper like the rest of the world, we have to use American U.S. Letter sized paper.

2) Canadian English, which in reality is English-English, since we are a Commonwealth country; is slowly being chewed away and erased from Canada's vocabulary. Although for the time being there is still 'colour' and 'flavour', what happened to 'authorised' or 'organisation'? They have been slowly replaced by overwhelming American media and influences.

3) Exit Signs - In Canada, we have two official languages, however, when it comes to EXIT signs in buildings, why did we take the American style of signs and just use them? In Quebec, they just translated EXIT to SORTIE. Europe, Australia, and most of the world, use the International Exit sign, which is green coloured and depicts a person running out through a doorway. If you look closely, you may see some of these at your local Ikea, especially in Montreal.

4) Another fact is our electrical power. Everyone knows the advantages of using 240 volt power instead of the 120 volts we are using. There are less natural resources needed (i.e. copper wire is thinner) and appliances operate more quickly and efficiently. Yet, because of influences from the U.S., we followed and conformed to the Americans' electrical system.

5) Metric System? Well, if you think Canada has converted to the Metric system, you are incorrect. Yes, speed limits and the weather are given in metric units, but when was the last time you spoke about your weight in kilos? Or even better, thanks to the inflow of American cooking shows, you probably cook using Farenheit. There are still many industries which have yet to change over, construction and railroads are a couple of examples.

6) Finally, date formats. The Canadian (commonwealth) date format, which has been around since the beginning, is day-month-year. This is also the official format of most countries. How often to you actually write this way, or do you follow the U.S. format of mm/dd/yy?

And all of this happens under the "North American" umbrella.... right.

With all of this and the more recent talks of a North AMERICAN Union, one is left to think - will Canada just end up as the Northern Territories of the U.S.? Did you know that Canada is already pre-approved to join the United States' Union? It's in their consitution; do a search on the Internet.

Aircraft go one GIANT step further using 400 cps replacing 60 cps. Now that would be a change for the next millennia. Just wonder for a minute how much 240 v. at 400 cps would save!

Someone has been hitting the brews...lol canada...sorry a commonwealth like puerto rico and virgin islands would be a state before canada or au.

disagree about puerto rico. they are a spanish speaking country, and would closer align themselves with latin america, or even spain. canada is an english speaking country, and worships america. stephen harper wants to be american. most of the talented canadians end up moving to america anyway, because there are no opportunities in canada.

I'm not even happy being a Canadian what makes you think I want to become American? ... all this division is retarded but I sure as hell don't want their unity either, we've weaseled our way into a real stupid situation here and the truth of it seems to be that Bush left the system in shambles on purpose. Kind of like a "see if you can fix this without our help" type of ordeal where once again we are stuck accepting the malarkey his father was talking about; the NWO .. Obama has been given a very very difficult job, he appears to be their Public Relations man after Bush has gone ahead and done all the work getting the wheels in motion for this NWO, now it's the slick salesman's turn to sell the idea to us.

People make this stuff out to be more sinister than it is, while it all plays out before you with the guise of something else entirely.

Speak for yourself. I don't like that our medical system is broken, that there are many other countries that run effective systems that make ours look terrible, or that if I'm sick or injured I sometimes get to wait a year before getting it fixed. I don't like that ANY socialized service is rationed. How Canadians view a failing health care system as the best in the world when it really ranks down in the thirties.

I lived on my father in laws farm for ten years, and the foxes and skunks that killed our chickens, also the coyotes that killed our sheep and calves were not making movies, and neither were the guns I used to shoot them with.

Yes we will be fine as we are, but we could be so much better if we'd just get beyond our arrogance and self congratulatory idiocy and realize that there are better ways to do many things. And that's with or without the United States.
