Senior Israeli Official: 'Bush Intends to Attack Iran'
www.jpost.com
US President George W. Bush intends to attack Iran in the upcoming months, before the end of his term, Army Radio quoted a senior official in
Jerusalem as saying Tuesday.
The official claimed that a senior member of the president's entourage, which concluded a trip to Israel last week, said during a closed meeting that
Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney were of the opinion that military action was called for.
However, the official continued, "the hesitancy of Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice" was preventing the
administration from deciding to launch such an attack on the Islamic Republic, for the time being.
The report stated that according to assessments in Israel, recent turmoil in Lebanon, where Hizbullah de facto established control of the country, was
advancing an American attack. (visit the link for the full news article)

This report cites an unnamed senior Israeli official who related a conversation by an unnamed US official in the Bush entourage concerning the present
state of the Administration's plans for an attack on Iran. The Israeli official spoke on Israeli Army Radio on Monday.
In all, this must be judged as hearsay, but nonetheless this report should be seriously considered, as (1) the information would never be forthcoming
from anyone at such a level who was willing to go on-record with such sensitive information, and (2) if not true, it is also an indication of intrigue
and disinfo being spread in Israel in the wake of the President's trip.
If true, this was doubtless leaked by an aide in the US entourage who disagrees with an attack on Iran.

Update to the original post: the White House responded very quickly to this report and has issued a blanket denial. As reported by
Raw Story, here is the WH response:
The White House immediately denied the report this morning.
"An article in today's Jerusalem Post about the president's position on Iran that quotes unnamed sources — quoting unnamed sources — is not
worth the paper it's written on," White House press secretary Dana Perino said in a statement.
"Let me respond by reaffirming the policy of the administration: We, along with our international allies who want peace in the Middle East, remain
opposed to Iran's ambitions to obtain a nuclear weapon," Perino said. "To that end, we are working to bring tough diplomatic and economic pressure
on the Iranians to get them to change their behavior and to halt their uranium enrichment program."
Perino said the "president of the United States should never take options off the table, but our preference and our actions for dealing with this
matter remain through peaceful diplomatic means. Nothing has changed in that regard."
That's whats called a non-denial denial.

There's a whole slue of indviduals who do not agree with an attack on Iran.
US generals ‘will quit’ if Bush orders Iran attack
SOME of America’s most senior military commanders are prepared to resign if the White House orders a military strike against Iran, according to
highly placed defence and intelligence sources.
Source;

I personally believe they will be waiting for the new Israeli Prime Minster to take office so they can back Israelis pre-emtive strike on Iran...

If the source isn't identified in the story, then the story itself has no credibility, IMO. This 'senior official' could be the head janitor for
all we know.

Great finds here, gottago. Knowing that we cannot believe a single word coming from this White House, I have to believe the other end at this point.
It's certainly not a stretch to believe that is what occurred.
And it is certainly good to see some of these military men, seemingly ready to 'step up' and step down. It's ones like that we need to have remain
in place though... to command over our forces to take our country back from these maniacs.

With every action there is a reaction. The usa is getting over the top with their actions, and the reaction to that is WORLD problems! because of
them! If you think people hate the usa now? then you will be suprised at the hatred a war in iran will create to the world.
STOP WARS ALREADY DAMMIT!!

Thanks RC, but to tell the truth I'd rather not be finding this sort of thing at all. What worries me more than the validity of any single one of
this sort of report from or about Iran is their number and frequency. Things are heating up in a very disturbing way and the media reports,
substantiated or not, are just a reflection of this.
Reminds me very much of last spring when a similar wave began, and was quashed with the "revolt of the generals." If we see those sort of reports
any time soon, we'll know some serious planning is in the works.

Update:
An article in today's Haaretz indicates that this report, despite the WH's denial, has
some validity about the US thinking on an attack:
Israelis who spoke to Bush and his entourage while they were in Israel last week said they had the impression that the military option "is on the
table," and that the president felt a sense of deep obligation to overcome the Iranian threat.

hah, they didnt deny it.
they just said diplomacy is first, and that a military measure is still there.
Being Iran have FLATLY refused to even co-operate with what the USA considers ' diplomatic means '
this is nothing but smoke and mirrors, of the BUSH clan trying to convince you they didnt have pre-meditated desires.
To put it simply
Person 2 '' you are not allowed to have money in your pocket because i say so, so give it to me ''
Person 1 '' I will not give you my money, its mine! ''
Person 2 '' I will not beat you up for your money, I will talk to you about it, and if you dont give it to me, i will consider beating you up ''
