www.cnn.com

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) -- Venezuela's foreign minister said the U.S. ambassador will be summoned to explain an alleged incursion by a U.S. military plane in Venezuelan airspace.

It will be interesting to see if this is true. Propoganda? Intelligence plane? Plane just a bit off course? Time will tell. Either way, the future does not look very bright for our relations with Venezuela.

It is standard procedure to taunt your victims first. The US is probing and testing the waters also.

It was stated a long time ago by Rockefeller that we would invade Iran, and Venezuela. I think he also mentioned Lebanon.

I for one believe him, and I also believe its over oil.

Im just hoping Russia gets pissed off enough to liberate us from our tyranical government.

Titor prophecy anyone? He did say there was a percentile difference between our reality and his own.

Accidental my asscheeks.
Boy do I smell another revenue hunt operation for the Oil Party, oops I meant the "Republican" Party.

Most likely a spy plane gathering intelligence, could be on those new Chinese jets Chavez bought recently: www.rawstory.com...

I doubt they'd send a lone fighter or bomber over Venezuelan airspace to "probe the area", they don't want another Gary Powers incident on their hands.

I seriously hope they just back off Chavez and give him some breathing space instead of blowing him out of proportions to make him seem like another Saddam Hussein or something. Venezuela doesn't want anything to do with the US, just because their setting up their own independent oil exchanges and meeting with OPEC members does not equate to = Financing terrorism, supporting "Axis of Evil", etc...

The Chickenhawks just never know when enough is enough, to them, the only success acceptable is wiping off every Head of State and his country, who ever breathed a bad word about George Bush or his mother.

Glad we can reach a consensus on at least something. Funny how that can happen. For example, in the beginning I used to have battle royals with my very liberal friend dgtempe, but now it is quite the opposite.

But can you believe someone actually "thought" and then typed that comment about russia saving us?

Update. Indeed it happened, and the Navy admitted it.

www.cnn.com...

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The U.S. regrets any "accidental infringement" of Venezuelan airspace by a U.S. plane over the weekend, the State Department said Monday, but a Venezuelan official called the breach intentional.

An S-3 Viking launches from an aircraft carrier. The U.S. says the S-3 over Venezuela had navigation problems.

The pilot "recognized his error and contacted a Venezuela tower to acknowledge that," said Tom Casey, spokesman for the U.S. State Department.

"This is simply an issue where an error was made and acknowledged at the time," Casey said.

However, at a news conference in Caracas, Venezuela, Defense Minister Gustavo Rangel Briceno said Venezuela believes that the U.S. military intentionally breached the country's airspace, adding that the U.S. ambassador will be summoned to the Foreign Ministry to explain the incident.

At least the US isn't trying to hide it. Probably just an accident.

An S-3 Viking huh? For anyone that doesn't know, the S-3 is a jet used to hunt subs. It is the same plane that Bush was on that landed on an Aircraft Carrier.

Basically this 'incident' is an excuse by chavez to try and distract from Interpol proving that he is indeed spending millions to help terrorists.

The Venezuelans should have blown that aircraft into little bitty pieces. It's their airspace and I don't think anyone buys the BS story that it was an accident given the fact that we are dealing with highly sophisticated aircraft/radar/gps, etc.

Regardless of what people think of Chavez it is their airspace. I'm sure the US wouldn't take to kindly if foreigners made the same mistake in US airspace.

Chavez most certainly could have taken down an unknown craft in Venezuelan air-space. But, I belive he is more tactical than that. I am not saying he is a friendly character on the world's stage either. He is simply a former military para-trooper that happens has control of a 'heck' of a lot of oil.

Just like another guy who is a former Texas Ranger...VP or something, that happens to have control of a 'heck' of a lot of bombs.

Chavez is, too say the least, not stupid enough to get drawn into a fight over an UNknown craft. Had the jet been identified as Columbian, for instance...who knows?
